I'll get pics up as soon as my wife gets home and takes some (she loves taking pictures with her Canon Rebel t4i)...

I also had a choice between the 2010 I ended up getting, and a 2009 blue with 67000 miles (sticker 15,989). I'd rather have the newer Gen as well, if nothing more than getting a little extra trunk space (seems like it anyway).

The 2010 does indeed have a clean carfax.

I traded in a 2002 Mitubishi Eclipse, manual transmission, with 176,000 miles, that had been in 1 accident, with some body work needed (dented front bumper, clear coat and paint fading on rear hatch).

So I just changed the ATF today, and I must say.... I'm sure glad you guys told me about it!!! The old fluid came out BLACK! I guess it's never been changed once in the 86,000 miles it's been driven (Carfax report shows 10,000 mile services performed, but no ATF change or inspection). The hex screws were also a PITA to get loose, but I'm sure glad I didn't give up. Anyway, brand new red ATF fluid in now. Since the old stuff was so black, should I change it again in 10,000, or wait another 60,000 to change? Or somewhere in between perhaps? I'm also waiting for my K&N oil filters to arrive in the mail, and I'll be changing the oil to 0W-20 synthetic Amsoil (hopefully this weekend).

If it came out black as you say, change it again soon to essentially flush it out, say in 500-1000 miles. Most "gearbox" oil should be changed no later than 30,000 miles for good service life with the average motorist. Many here believe 60,000 miles after the initial change is acceptable, but you should use the former at minimum. I have another change coming up at 50K miles and that will determine my change cycle, but I will do mine more often than most because I'm "OCD ;) " about vehicle maintenance. Let's just say it goes with my profession.

i really cant thank you enough, i was real particular about fluids in my Yaris, and I sure will be with this Prius as well. I'll change it again in another 1000 miles and see how it is. The old stuff really did look like used motor oil :( Should I stick with Toyota WS, or change to Amsoil or another brand of synthetic?

I'm sure there are alternative fluids that meet spec., but for now I personally see no research that benefits reason to try them. But that's me. I am also one who generally stays with what works, I just change it more often. Although the Prius transmission is not your normal gearbox, it still is a gearbox.

RED! I'm so jealous! My model doesn't come in red and I was very bummed. I keep thinking about taking it to a friend that owns a high end body shop...but my wife would kill me.

Congrats on your beautiful car. I love the black rims with red also. Really sweet ride. Feel free to post more pics :)

I'll post more as my wife gets them. lol.... and you can always vinyl wrap or plasti dip it! :) a kit of plasti dip for the entire car only runs about $400, and you can DIY! (y) I was planning on doing that, in a charcoal grey, but I think I'll stick with the red for a little while. Best of all, if you don't like it after it's done, you can simply peel it off!

OK.....what is this you speak of!!??! I'm going to be researching this immediately. I had no idea you could do that to a whole car. I'm pretty picky about appearances; can it be made to look good from close up? Thanks for the advice!

I just plasti dipped my tail lights, then removed it a day later. Light did shine through, but not bright enough, and I didn't want to get pulled over (wasn't a matter of if, but when). I did like the look though....

Thanks for posting these pics! I did a bunch of reading on the process. It is interesting for sure. I think we are starting to get used to our color though. It's like our little shuttle craft (geeky, I know).
