    No luck. Still doing it.
Weird that after a year this would happen out of the blue.

Update - forgot to mention this before.
It looks like it is specific to using a certain USB flash drive.
I tried two other flash drives and both did not start playing when the car started but as soon as I inserted the other flash drive it started playing again when the car started.
The two usb flash drives I tested with were 8 gigs. The problem child is a 16gig HP. I've used a different 16 gig flash drives in the past with no problems though.
For some reason I only have the issue with the HP, which is odd.

I have the same issue on my 2013 Pv5 with the latest Entune version. It doesn't matter what you plug in first or last, when you do it, or what the source is before or after. This is a known Entune bug..... at least with the iPhone (I don't know about other phones since all I have is the iPhone 4S). My dealer told me they know about it. I called ToyotaUSA technical support and they acknowledged it was a known issue. They are "working on it" they say.

Just wanted to give my own updated. Just started to lease the v Three two days ago and noticed this same phenomenon. Every single time I'd plug my phone (Android Gingerbread Motorola Photo) into the USB port it would immediately start playing the media from my phone.
I called the number listed in this thread and the woman took my information and then told me that the issue was probably my USB cord. I too said "What the hell are you talking about".
She then went on to tell me that if I was using the USB cable that came with the phone (which I am), it is probably a charge and synch/media cable. She said that there are Charge-Only USB cables that can be purchased, in her words "At grocery stores and electronic store's everywhere. And they say it on the packaging". A quick Google search shows that there are cables being marketed as such.
With this information, I'm going to try two different things. First of all in the Android devices I'm familiar with, you can select the default function of the USB when you plug it in. One of those options, I'm almost certain, is "Charge Only". If I can't do that with my Photon, or it doesn't work, I'm going to try to find a 'charge only' cable and try that. I will update as we go.
As for those of you who just started to experience this after the update, maybe you were using a cable like this the entire time and the update somehow triggers it now. If not, did you switch the cable you were using?

Just as an update. There is no way to change the setting of the USB port on my phone (and I'm assuming most) without connecting it to another device. In this case I connected it to my PC, the USB notification popped up, I scrolled the notification bar down, selected the USB notification, and then selected Charge Only. I'm headed to the car in a few minutes...I'll update then.

SUCCESS! Switched to charge only, I plugged it in as normal and NO AUTO PLAY! Unplugged and replugged on both the phone and car sides and all four times it did not auto play!
Hope it works for you guys too!;)

You might not be able to turn the iPod to Charge Only, but you could get a charge only cable for your iPod. I found one on Amazon but I'm too new to post the link.

Interesting idea, a charge-only cable. I guess, though, then I wouldn't be able to see podcast lists, playlists, and all that other info on the Prius's screen.

No problem here with S3. Have you updated your i4S software?

Just make sure your audio source is not BT.
