Yesterday I traded in a 2013 Mitsubishi Evo X. I bought the car thinking I wanted a great handling car. It was tons of fun but every time I got in I "thought" I was Mario Andretti and knew I was going to end up in lots of trouble with that car. In 3 months I only put 970 miles on it. So it just sat in the garage. Decided to trade it in on the Prius I always wanted and am retiring my 13 mpg Ford F150 service truck for my business and am going to use the Prius for tire changes, unlocks, jump starts and fuel deliveries. Which poses some questions... which I will ask in another thread. I have to start thinking about getting strobes and such for the car so I can be "seen" on the side of the highway. Anyway, loving the car. Even my kids like it better than the Evo. :)

My previous car was a 2011 Nissan Xterra. Loved that truck, fully blacked out, beautiful truck. But I commute 40 miles (total) every day to/from work and I was spending around $300 monthly on gas, so a month ago I traded it.

People still don't believe that I moved to a Prius.

I thought that changing from a 270hp truck to a Hybrid Car was going to be difficult, but I really love my Prius and even more now that I'm spending around $70-$80 a month on gas :)

I recently traded in a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid for a 2013 Prius 2. The hybrid battery in the Honda was going bad and Honda wanted $2,700 for a new one. The car had 115K miles. It drove well, was much quieter than the Prius, but only averaged about 35 mpg. I am part of the class action lawsuit against Honda for the hybrid - will get $200 for my trouble. I have mixed feelings about the Prius so far - LOVE the high mileage and the hatchback. HATE the 'wing' console and lack of dashboard storage. The display is so complicated - there's too much information to make sense of. The car drives OK, but I wish I had the Michelin Defender tires instead of the factory Ecopia's. All in all, I don't love the Prius yet. I'll keep watching this site for other opinions.

I had myself a little 1993 Saturn Station Wagon. Got great mileage. Had ample storage. Perfect for hauling around two dogs. Until the wife smashed it up on I94 driving through an icy patch of road. Prius wasn't on our radar at all, until we happened upon a used one, in our price range. I fell in love with it immediately, the wife is still warming up to it. We also have a Honda Element which is an awesome car for us as well.

2000 Honda Civic EX 4-door with 130,000 miles -- 13 years was getting to be a bit of a long stretch without changing cars. We were only getting like 20 MPG driving around the city (hills). HUGE upgrade. I always owned Honda (that was my 3rd over 23 years). This is my first Toyota.

This thread is like therapy session for me.. good to see the huge range of powerful cars all of you own(ed). I must admit I'm in a withdrawal stage in terms of the power. I do miss getting up to 80mph in no time, but I am trying to adjust. With all the hills around here, it's hard get great mpg.

I was driving a 1990 Toyota Camry wagon when I made the switch to Prius. I was looking at a new Corolla but realised for the same coin I could drive a 2 year old Prius, with as much space as the Camry wagon and better fuel consumption than the new Corolla. The choice was a no brainer and the Prius is great fun to drive hard!

Very well rounded cars. I miss them. My other option was a e91 328i which is a wagon.

2002 Celica GT with over 250k miles on it. It's a great little car and still drives like the day I bought it but I needed a more fuel efficient vehicle with more room. My wife thinks the 3rd gen Prius looks like a the 7 gen Celica and I do see a slight resemblance. Both great cars, both Toyota!(y)

2007 Lincoln MKZ AWD and 2003 Mazda Protégé 5.

Both were nice and fun in their respective categories.
The 2010 Prius lll was culture shock from both sides.... :D

A 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid. The most uncomfortable car we've ever owned. The seats in that were like concrete blocks. DH would get out of it after an even short ride and walk like he was 80 years old. I suspected the hybrid battery was going out and wanted another hybrid. I'm very happy with my Prius!

I traded in a 1993 Honda Accord Station Wagon on a 2012. I love my new car and I have a 1999 Kawasaki ZG1000 Concours for when I want to feel the breeze.

    2001 Golf TDI.
    Before that 2000 Jetta TDI.
    Both black.
THE WORST color. They got hot in the winter sun...
So I'm not getting the big jump in fuel savings like most.
