Thank goodness for decent weather. We're back up in the 40s after a winter of 38ish.

I have a wagon and can't get it off the 38.6 mpg. No matter what, changes to 38. something continually. I have put more air in the tires to be 35 in the 17" . The ride in my test drives on the smaller tires as on the three, proved to me to be bumpy which is one of the reasons I purchased a wagon and for the room and reclining back seats that don't on the snaller reg. prius. I have heard that it takes several months for the actual mileage to kick in and a friend that said his reg. Prius started out at 47 and eventually moved up to stay basically at 50 and above. I have a colleage that purchased a Prius wagon and is finding the same mileage,,,no matter what she does. So, I hope that the information is correct that is takes much time for the mileage to kick in and the service tech, guy at Toyota purchased one for his wife and said drive it normally and it eventually will adapt to your driving. I wonder if anyone is finding this to be true? I am in FL and have 2597 miles on her already.

Took a 2-week old v5 on a 2450 mile trip from Florida to midwest & back. About 2200 miles on the Interstate (typically slightly above the posted limited), other 250miles in St Louis traffic. Overall trip average = 40.8mpg.

Where do you ever get pure gas these days. They all seem to have ethanol.

I am in Florida and I don't drive like a Grandma and I am getting consistently 46mpg. I fluctuate between 46.6mpg and 46.4mpg. I drive 118 miles to and from work everyday on I95 in Eco mode. I never floor it and I drive about 72 to 74 miles an hour. Some people might think that is grandma driving but I call it safe driving :)

Glad spring is here. Fuel economy is getting much better and more consistent.

Here is summary of my results.
    • 2012 July 24 through Dec 31, 2012. Avg of 40.5 mpg US / 5.813 L/100 km over 9,570.4 Miles/15,402 km
    • 2013 Jan 1 through 24 April 2013 Avg of 37.3 mpg US / 6.301 L/100 km over 6,544.9 miles/10,533 km
    • 2012 July 24 through to YTD (24 April 2013) Avg of 39.1 mpg US / 6.011L/100 km over 16,115.3 miles/25,935 km
    Last two fuel ups in April 2013: 42.7 mpg / 5.502L/100 km (519 km/322.5 miles) and 42.8 mpg /5.502L/100 km (557 km/346 miles).

Worst economy was Jan 13, 2013 fill up 33.4 MPG/7.034 L/100 km. Wild changes in economy from Jan 1, 2013 through March 29, 2013 due to temperature and traffic conditions. ie 30 minute travel time taking 1 to 1.5 hours because of poor road conditions and low temperatures (lots accidents etc.) The consolation is if I had been still operating my old 2000 Taurus Wagon SE I would have spent $1,812.51 more on fuel over the same time period.

Prius V used 1,559.048 L /411.857 US gal and based on avg economy the Taurus Wagon would have used 3, 183.375 L / 840.958 US gal.

What I saved in fuel cost covers 4 months of loan payments out of 9 loan payments on the Prius V

My Prius V just crossed 30,000 miles. This winter my husband put on Bilzzak snow tires my average in winter with snow tires on was between 40 and 42.5. Last summer I was getting between 47 and 50 mpg. I am taking off my snow tires this week and getting the oil changed hopefully last years summer's mpg will come back.

If you accelerate fast and drive fast all the time maybe that is it. I drive in the country where it is much colder than Florida but I go up and down hills to get where I am going. I coast down the hills and drive up them. If you are always on the freeway and drive really fast is the only thing I can think of that is causing your low mileage. Maybe take it to the dealership to get it checked out.

Unless the Check engine light is on, the dealer will find nothing wrong.

when you guys post your MPG's, can you please post your driving situations?

    stop/go traffic?
    mph?
    commute length?
    type of wheels?

simple information such as above may give clues to your mpg.
