Does anyone make a standard UK mains to 62196 adapter? Then you could just use your PiP's EVSE.

Never thought of that. Sounds like an excellent solution. Will have to get searching to see if I can find one. Thanks.

With some skills, it will not be difficult to make one and maybe it's already for sale ;)

The OP is in the UK. They don't use 120v.

I don't see how that could work without a bit of electronics, since 62196 uses control signals, just as J1772 does. It is not just a matter of wiring up a different connector. A mains-to-62196 adapter would have to "fake out" the car side of the protocol to the 62196 in the charging station, and put the raw 240V on the mains side to feed to the EVSE.

providing the signaling for 62196 mode 3 should not be too much of a challenge for an adapter.

    "For compatibility, the 32 A plugs of IEC 61851-1 Mode 2 connectors (1000 Ω pilot-earth) may be used" - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_62196

IEC 61851-1 Mode 1 doesn't require any control signal; 240 in/ 240 out trough the connectors

In reference to Chargepoint Stations: You were right, # 1 =. 110 V. and. # 2 =. 220 V. I notice the savings in time is only about 1/3 to a full charge. I'm not sure I see the advantage of 220 for a Prius.

The readout in mine may say 1 1/2 hours for a full recharge, but the car's actually done after an hour and 15 ninutes. It's usually about half the time it takes with the cable the car came with.
