You might want to request other info like age, sex, driving history, marital status, etc. as that would greatly impact the premium.

Hey guys, paying for insurance monthly is really expensive versus paying once every 6 months or annually, check it out.

 

I pay right around $32 a month, I do pay in 6 month intervals to save the monthly charge.
40 years old, multiple vehicle discount, multiple policy discount, paid in full discount, safety instructor discount.
100k/300k coverages, with towing, and rental, $500 deductible.
Good credit, no accidents or tickets, Idaho.
Just as another comparison.

 

Insurance varies soooo much.

Your best bet is to:

1. Combine with your renters/home owners
2. Shop around
3. Ask for referrals from friends or family (sometimes they get a referral bonus). I'm a huge advocate of word of mouth advertising. I use Erie Insurance (in PA) They have competitive rates and have been wonderful with claims from storm damage to my house to a recent car accident.
4. Don't skimp or get the bare minimum coverage, it's worth getting things like replacement value, full tort, and uninsured motorist protection

 

Some states, such as the one I live in, use credit scores to help determine insurance rates. So keep your credit scores as high as you can and check them once a year or so to be sure they are correct.

To reemphasize what has been mentioned above, other factors include:
what city/county you live in,
how likely your car is to be stolen,
how much your car would cost to fix,
your driving record (i.e. tickets and accidents),
the driving records of other licensed drivers in your household,
where you park your car, garage or street.

A couple of good companies are USAA if you qualify, Amica, and the old standby State Farm which is pretty good if you have been with them for a while. Also mentioned above, if you have all your insurance with one company you can get a pretty good discount. Shop around.

 

It make no difference paying by the month, semi-annual or annual.

I pay over 1k a year, AAA, but I also drive over 90 miles a day in los angeles. I'm 59 and have a perfect record. Its is the 35k a year mileage that kills me.

 

Actually that is not true, some companies do offer a discount if paying in full, from previous experience, Farmers, MetLife, Progressive and All-State all offer a discount if paying in full 6 month or yearly payments. They almost always add a fee if they do monthly payments because it's more work for them and they are rewarding you for being a customer longer.. don't just say it makes no difference in a blanket statement if you don't know if it's true or not.
Maybe your company doesn't offer that and that's fine, but mine does. I actually save I think it's like $60 every 6 months by paying my auto insurance in full, that's 2 months premium on my Prius, I save $50 a year on my motorcycle policy paying 12 months at a time, and since I only pay $240 that's a good chunk.

 

Most insurance won't let you pay the full year premium so that they can adjust your premium every 6 month in case you get more than 2 tickets. State Farm do not take monthly payment until recently they have quarterly payment.

If they give you discount on semi-annual or annual payment, actually they hike the payment for monthly payment and pretend to be discounted.

Auto insurance always base on 6 months period.
