    Hi all-

I am trying to make an effort to see more hybrids on the road, and also am irritated that prospective Prius buyers have to pay MSRP and wait extensive periods on top of that just to do something good for the environment (just check out the countless threads of said experience on PC and PO).

The PC community can be quite powerful if we join together, and I think one of the forms this can take is on the purchase of new Prius vehicles.

If you could get a Prius at below MSRP and at a 2 month or less waiting period, who would be interested? If there are enough folks (I don't really have a number in mind, but my guess is the more people, the more leverage on price), I can spearhead this initiative to some local Toyota dealers.

So, let me know if interested, say perhaps with a 2/18 order date.

    Steve:

On two weeks notice, I doubt there are anywhere near enough (even half a dozen) lurkers here who just happen to be close to a decision on buying a Prius. (I could be wrong). The initial rush (cars ordered Sept.-Dec.) will be nearly over by the end of this month, then purchases should level out---but at what level? The idea has merit---I suggested it myself two months ago here, but thinking ahead more to when people will be committing to buy '07s (say, July-Nov., depending on when they're coming out this time around).

Then again, I regularly notice that at a given time we often have almost twice as many lurkers as members here. And: there may be a cluster of buyers who want the full tax credit and who'll want to order by June 30 (if, as we approach it, that seems as if it's going to be the 60K-car cutoff before the credit drops).

    Just some factors to consider.

This has been a well know issue with pricing on cars from the SE and Gulf regions. Those regions are independant distributors and they play their own game on pricing and accessories. An example is that leather interior is not factory leather but port installed.

    Hey Jack!

Definately worht considering. For any group buy, the deadline I suppose is more arbitrary. I was thinking more of ensuring the tax credit. The advantage of a sooner deadline is more assurance of the fulltax credit, but the disadvantage is there would be less buyers at that time. Let me see what other feedback/interest comes from this.

    Thanks again!
