i traded in my '07 Prius last night for a '13 Prius, base model, package 2. (the light aqua/blue color)
I did not get Nav. this time, so i saved allot not getting the backup camera or Nav.
instead i will get the donut mounted Garmin Nav, plus the aftermarket backup camera which can be installed on my rear view mirror. i am satisfied with my purchase, trade in value, and the way i was treated, and my low low monthly payments due to my large downpayment.
I may have made a mistake buying the extended warranty for 2500. last night but they won't put the $ in the bank til next week. i MIGHT be able to get out of the warranty. not sure. Should I have bought it here to save, like i did last time ? I got the 75,000 miles, 10 yr. warranty I believe.
Thanks ahead of time if you have an opinon .. be back late this afternoon ... i will probably keep this one 5 or 6 years also.
    Thanks,

I personally do not see the value of the extended warranty. It already has a warranty and I doubt you would run in to a situation within the first 75k miles that would cost more than $2500.

Get your money back, put it in the bank and use it for repairs, odds are you'll be ahead of the game.

I concur with the other posters. Extended warranties are a terrific deal for the dealer. For the purchaser, they're a big waste of money.

When I purchased my 07, I purchased the extended warranty for $2000.

Then I found out I could renegotiate that price - I think was was able to get it

for $1500. The $500 difference got credited back toward the loan thru Toyota.

Same thing with when I paid to have a burglar alarm installed. Found out

it already had one, again they would credit the money towards the loan.

Not sure if you financed thru Toyota.

Also, if I am not mistaken, you can cancel your extended warrant anytime before

the normal warranty expires. There is a 800 number to call.

    Hope this helps.

As the recent purchaser of a Sea Glass Pearl Prius 2, who uses a Garmin Nav unit, I think you made an excellent purchase.

However, I have never purchased an extended warranty, and I did not this time either. You certainly can get it cheaper, I personally don't think it's needed at all.

At the very least I'd cancel what you have purchased for $2,500....way too much IMO. Then if you really, really feel you want an extended warranty as you already know, there are better options.

Thank you for the thumbs up on my purchase and what model of Garmin Nav. do you have ? and do you like it ?
I love the color don't you ? I wonder how many years people drive them before buying the extended warranties, or maybe people don't buy them at all ? I have had my Prius for 6 yrs. and nothing was ever covered by the warranty and i didn't need any repairs other than recalls as far as i remember. Thanks again !

If the warranty covers the paint, it may be a good investment for you. My paint is peeling after only six years and Toyota said they're not willing to do anything about it.

I bought a 2013 Prius this week too & the Toyota Dealer offered me a 8 year 120K extended warranty for $1500. I did not take it but I am amazed at the price difference.

It's a Garmin Nuvi 255 I think....it's several years old and hardly cutting edge. BUT it works great and I have lifetime maps and I am use to it, can't really justify upgrading. Yes, I've now moved it to two cars, I really like it, even though reading about the latest models- I almost wish I had reason to upgrade. I would really recommend a Garmin to anybody. Great product.

I've said it in another post but the only "problem" with Sea Glass Pearl, is how different it seems to look depending on what light the vehicle is in. In overcast NW weather or in the evening I find it to look Greenish Gray to light Gray or sometimes a Steely looking Blue. I like it all those times. However, sometimes in the clearest brightest light...morning, it turns Light Baby Blue...I don't really like it when it looks baby blue. But it's kind of fun having a color that I think really changes depending on the light. What I really like, is I hate to admit it, but I haven't washed it in two weeks....and it still looks clean.

warranties are very negotiable even after you purchased the car.
