    CKnfts Just curious does the Base sell gasoline without Federal taxes at the commissary? Excuse me being naive never been in the Military but tremendous respect for the people who are.

    JMD..I work in a military base and we are charged taxes for gas also. It's only in the Post Exchange (PX) or Base Exchange (PX) that we aren't charged any taxes.

    Oh, I didn't know we were supposed to fill up the tank to report the cost. :) I am holding out hope that my favorite cheap gas spots won't let me down on my way to Virginia again.

    From a different post I believe VA has the lowest state gasoline tax in the nation close to the lowest

    Not until July apparently. This article was interesting because it has a graph showing the states that are most expensive: Gas Prices on Upward Trend in May | Fox Business

    What a weekend of gas prices!!

    On Saturday, I fueled up for $3.15 in both Cleveland, TN and Max Meadows, VA. Today, I fueled up in Buchanan, VA for $3.59 and arrived back to Atlanta to see it at $3.45. Hoping that I can fuel up tomorrow morning for less! :)

    Okay, so I didn't get a cheaper price this morning. It was $3.48 a gallon. So, now I need to work on improving my gas mileage because driving long distances is never a good thing for the MPG. :(

    I guess he does not live in Northern Virginia? GasBuddy.com has an excellent gaso price map you can zoom in and see prices in your area. It shows Virginia is a very low gaso price, except North Virginia which is much higher than rest of state. I just do not know why this is? Are the NoVA dealers charging an extra 40 cents a gallon profit margin? Does E10 reformulated gaso cost that much more? Or is there a local gaso tax component we never hear about? I am thinking the latter.

    There ought to be a law saying the taxes must be shown on the gaso receipt so we can see the taxes.
