We have a 2012 Prius V 3. We have been having issues playing anything through the USB port.
When we plug in a device IPhone 5 or I PAD it will begin to play and then we get a poping sound through the speakers then no sound then it cuts in and out. We have tried several USB cables and it does it on all. It also seems that if you move the connection at the port it will "short" in and out. has anyone else had this problem? I think its the USB port itself that has a loose connection. Would this be covered in the waranty? We do have the extended Waranty and have less than 20,000 miles on the vehicle.

If you are using Apple cables then I would take it to the dealer. If not apple cables try one of those first. (What came with the device). I don't have this problem but rarely use USB.

When I first got my v, I was excited about playing music from a USB stick but it didn't work. Tried my ipod with a cable - still nothing. Tried my iphone with a different cable - still nothing - wouldn't even charge. Took it to Toyota and the tech suggested it was the cable. When his iphone wouldn't work with his cable, they finally searched under the dash and found a loose connection. They fixed it no charge. I enjoy my music off a 32GB USB stick with the voice activated searching much more than plugging the phone in or playing through the bluetooth.
