I want to add a bike rack to hold 4 bikes to the Prius v. What do people recommend, can I get one on top or only one to attach to a hitch in the back?

I use a hitch rack. I find them easier to manage.

Ok, looked into getting a hitch rack to accomodate either the Thule vertex 4 bike or the Thule Apex 4 bike rack. They will fit a 1.25 or 2 inch receiver. But in looking at hitch assemblies can only find Curtis 11276 Class I hitch and then a class III hitch for a small trailer to FIT the Prius V. I am told to carry 4 bikes on either rack I need either a class II or class III hitch (etrailer.com). It seems to be within the weight limit, so not certain about this. Any comments or has anyone had experience loading 4 bikes on the back of Prius?

I put Yakima Racks on my roof, 58" round bars, it looks pretty sick! You can easily fit 2 bikes in one direction and 2 in the other. Im using the BOA kit by Yakima, but any racks will work. Ill take some photos and upload them later.

Check my page out. I have a 58" Thule set up. I have two bike racks on now but could easily do two more. Your best bet is on the roof. Go Thule though, I feel they are more solid then Yakima. But Yakima's actual bike racks are better than Thule's.

Any questions just let me know.

Wondering about loading 4 bikes as well. Two kids, two adults. Thought hitch was the way to go for ease, but maybe roof is best for 4 bikes? What roof rack and bike rack combo is easiest to load/remove?
