Has it already been noted that with the help of a voice command, you *can* add a new destination while the car is in motion?

For example voice command "Airport" shows the POI icons for local airports. If you then touch the icon on the map screen, to select it, you can then add that location as a destination.

(I think an "Enter <bullseye icon>" touchscreen button appears at the lower right).

    Anyone else tried this?

Yeah, I copied a lexus list a while back - see Danny's link.

As for voice commands, yes, using POI's, then the bullseye works. However, it's only as accurate as the POI category and the address table is on the DVD :)

Usually, however, in an uncrowded area, if you can find the POI soon, navigating to it is relatively moot unless it's on some difficult street.

Also - you can use voice commands to choose the quick locations 1 through 6 - which can also be "pressed" while driving.

The POI method helped when I needed to stop at an ATM and and McDonald's in that order. I was driving from L.A. to San Francisco and so I didn't know the neighborhood. Other POI types, or needing a particular one might not have worked as well!

I also noticed the other day that you can just pick a spot on the map, and use the bullseye to make it your destination. Not idea for a driver, but a (trained? ) passenger could scroll around, and point to the general neighborhood while cruising on the freeway. Then once you've exited, you could put the real address in at a stoplight?

Looking forwad to an updated & improved map database one of these days ... though mostly I love it.
