Debating about Prius Persona

Persona ought to come with the power driver's seat and be offered in Silver exterior also. Only one light exterior Blizzard and it's an upcharge.

 

I agree no need for power seats cause they want to lessen the use of electricity. Also on the color i have always been a fan of white. Silver is ok but it would just be q regular color for them. Ththey only had 3 options cause they wanted the car to stand out. That's just my 2 cents.

I don't. The power is 8-way adjustable, not only 6. If you don't need those other 2 ways, great, but if you do, not so great. Yeah, memory is good, but only the EX-L and up gets it, not EX or Sport, FYI.

 

Only uses elect. when you move it. Residual electric draw would amount to much.
Many prefer lighter color cars, cooler in sun, etc.... They have 2 very dark colors and only 1 light with upcharge.

Agreed. I've owned 3 generations of Prius but have driven many different cars of friend's. BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc. Prius handles just fine, and plenty of torque to give you power when you need it, especially if you select Power mode. Freeway driving and passing is a breeze and very enjoyable, smooth on highways and streets. Toyota has continued to refine imo one of the greatest cars ever designed. 50 mpg on the streets and highway, I even averaged 50 while driving around 80mph on the highways up to the mountains.

 

Isn't this a bit of a stretch? One of the greatest cars ever designed? Seriously? Then why does it only sell 12k units / month here? Because it's only too expensive? You make it sound as if the Prius liftback tears up the highway with relative quiet, bombs over steep freeway grades with ease. It's a good car. We all know it's the stuff 50+ MPGs, but it sure doesn't feel like certain top selling midsize sedans I'd rather not mention when cruising the highway, especially over rougher pavement.

I'll stick with Edmunds current review of Prius liftback, rings true with me.

 

I couldn't care less about sales, especially in a culture addicted to fast cars and large trucks. Never had any trouble in all road conditions, always felt safe, even in snow and heavy rain. My comment about greatest cars ever is because of the combination of emissions, mpg, and comfort. It started the mass production of hybrids and made them accepted in society. It was groundbreaking and they continue to refine.

And I never read any reviews from notoriously biased in favor of big American manufacturers.

 

Higher sales puts more of said car in the hands of drivers, so, I care about sales a lot. I'm sure Toyota cares about Prius sales a lot. US buys a lot of full size pickup trucks, but many, many of them are used by construction workers, people that would build your dwelling, or workplace. With all the tools they carry, they need a solid truck to haul and tow.

Hard to say about fast cars, but there are an awful lot of MB and BMW around SF Bay Area.

I think the liftback Prius has the potential to go up the sales scale, become even more commonplace, but they've got work to do on quietness, little more pep and refine the interior. Hard plastics and floating bridge consoles don't apply.

Said it before, I've driven Camry Hybrid, and although it burns a whopping 1.97 gallons more per 450 miles, it chews up the city and highway pavement quite a bit more handily than a liftback Prius. Not that I'm hating on Prius, it is what it is.

 

Yeah, I know, I've been pretty hard on my little car. Was very tired after work today and wow did it feel good to sit down in the car and go. Then I got rewarded with nearly 60 MPG after the days commute:

 

Well I sure hope it handles better, it's heavier and MUCH more expensive, 10k more expensive than my Prius

 

I say the only good thing the Prius Persona offers is the unique purple paint (paint coated with 3 layers) and the interior red stitching. I like the Persona but I don't think it's worth $27,000 ($26,000 seems more reasonable). The new 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid is stylish, luxurious, and sporty. The only downside is it retails anywhere from $35,000 - $40,000. If your looking for a Toyota in the Northeast region give me a shout. I'll see what offer I can give you on a new Toyota.
