50% EV and 50% HV

    For the last 2,600 miles, I have achieved 50/50 split between electricity fuel and gasoline fuel.

    PiP displays 224 Wh/mi (151 MPGe) but my charging loss is about 14%. If I include the charging loss(EPA), it comes out to 132 MPGe.

    There is no disappointment in gas mileage and PiP delivers. 54 MPG on regular gas.

    The best of both EV and HV worlds! Loving it.

    I rode 49/51 - 50/50 all the way until I hit around 15k miles when I changed job locations and my commute had to change. My life time MPG on the display was right around 102 MPG.

    Sucks watching it slowly fade away now though. I'm at about 18k miles and already down to 47/53... I figure it will level off around 40/60 which is still amazing.

    I've got 10902 miles on the car, so far. My lifetime EV so far is 24%. Considering that my brother lives in South Va, all my friends live down the Jersey shore and I work a full time and a part time job, I don't think that's bad at all. :D

    :)Currently at 70% EV, 30% HV. Was at the same level about five weeks ago, took a trip and EV dropped back to 63%. Wish I could take all the credit but I have a all EV commute, charge at work and EV commute home. With a plug in, I want to maximize EV use. Roughly 2200 miles on my Prius.

    I can't edit my signature ever since the forum upgraded the software. Mods looked into it but couldn't figure it out. It looks like I am stuck with this signature. LOL.

    I think it is a plus for PiP. Since it is fuel efficient with both fuels, if you change your job, you won't need to change your car. The fuel usage ratio would change but you still get the highest efficiency out of either fuel.

    I don't think there is any other gas car (of same size) that can give me more than 54 MPG nor an electric car (same size) that can get me 132 MPGe (224 Wh/mi with charging loss). My recharge time is 3 hours and I can still do 500 miles trip. The best of both worlds.

    A question to the PiP owners, is 224 Wh/mi typical? I know some people beats me but I am trying to get an idea of an average figure. Perhaps I should start a new thread with survey.

    I agree with your whole post.

    My usage is about ~190 Wh/mi as logged by the display...or about 210 Wh/mi including ~10% charging losses. This is mostly 30-50 mph city streets...but maybe 10-15% at ~61 mph.

    That's awesome. :)

    I stopped charging at work until they lower the price and my EV ratio is dropping fast so I'm giving up the plug for a week or two. I want to see what it does without a plug. :)

    I know. It's sad but I have had to start using my AC and with my long commute, a single charge for 100+ miles feels useless. I have been averaging 60-64mpg this way. I figure if I drop down into the low 50s without charging then 64mpg won't seem so bad. :)

    Thats exactly why I purchased it, to elaborate more, the better part of about 30ish percent of my EV is 300+ miles trips with no charging ablity. Any other plug in may yield me a extra 5% total EV on my daily commutes but at the cost of a substantial hit to my HV MPG on those trips that make up a good portion of my big picture ratio... No thanks.

    90% Electric for my daily commute and 48 MPG for weekend runs to Vegas, San Diego, Frasier Park, ect... Like you said, best of both worlds.

    It'll be interesting to know what PiP delivers without any charging for a week or so.

    F8L, here is my perspective on "a single charge for 100+ miles feels useless". In a normal weekdays, I drive only 4 miles so I don't get to use a full charge. You get to use a full charge everyday! If I were you, I'll be happy to charge it everyday and use it to the full extend.

    Going back to the screenshot from my first post. 2,592 miles divided by 24 gallons is 108 MPG. This is the Cons MPG that PiP reports -- yours is 60-64 MPG. That figure ignores the electricity as electric miles are divided with gasoline gallons. It is gas consumption, not efficiency.

    My efficiency is 132 MPG (equivalent) on electricity and 54 MPG on gas. I have calculated yours before and I recall similar to mine.

    The bottom line, you can be happy about the efficiency. You may be unhappy about the fuel usage ratio but they are two separate things.

    Very true Dennis. Very true. :)

    FWIW, today's morning uphill commute went from average 60mpg with a charge at 65mph using CC to 48mpg without a charge.

    Right now is is $0.35 surcharge and $1.35/hr. They are L2 chargers so it takes about 1.5hrs for me to charge but the App only breaks it down by hour so two hours worth of charging costs me about $3.35 or $3.65! The building owner is very busy and has not got around to making changes to the pricing yet.

    Since your commute to work is 49 miles, a single charge provided you about 12 miles. That's 131 MPGe for the electricity portion. Pure EVs will not get that low electricity consumption for uphill at 65 mph.

    There is synergy at work.

    The 1.5 hours isn't pro-rated but is rounded up to 2 full hours? What EVSE brand or system is being used? I ask because we are about to get new 240v charging stations at my own workplace.
