HELP!!!!!

Double check that the igniters are in place, all the way, tight, and that the wires are in the proper sequence.

 

Ignition coil?

I've never personally done the working of changing the plugs myself on any car I've had (left it to others) and mine's not due for while. But, I'd use a torque wrench and follow the recommend amount of torque instead of guessing.

However, I'm not sure that's the cause of your probs. Hopefully one of the repair experts will chime in.

 

obviously the salesman that you bought the car from didn't tell you what mine told me that everything I knew about regular cars throw that out the window this is a whole different beast you shouldn't try to change those yourself

I wouldn't trust a family member with 20 years experience to work on this kind of car. and as for the seven hours you might as well get a rent a car or take her to work and then get that car towed to Toyota and have it done correctly

Mike, the igniter is the device that sits on top of the plugs. They are pictured below.



Also, I know this is late in the game but you might like to review this thread. It might give you an idea of what to check. You never did say what brand of plug and type you used. I have not done this job, however the author of the link below has and is very knowledgeable when it comes to the Prius.

Seriously Matt, most of the engine related stuff on the Prius is no different to any other modern car. Simple things like replacing spark plugs or changing engine oil are in no way "special" on a Prius compared to any other car.

Mike: Unplug and then re-plug all the igniter connections (the low tension wires to the top of each plug).

BTW. Did you disconnect each igniter before you removed them? Some people disconnect them all, while others find there's enough slack in the wiring harness to remove plugs #1 through to #3 without disconnecting the wires, and only disconnect #4. Hopefully you didn't try to remove #4 without disconnecting the igniter as you may have put too much strain on the wiring harness and broke something.

BTW. The toque setting on the plugs is only 13 ft-lbs.
