89 MPG while driving just 4 miles?

    Setting: 5 AM...just me, my Prius, & the deadly deer that live to step in front of a new car.
    What Happened: Drove 35 MPH...on the hills ( very small ) up one side...coast down the other side. Last mile sort of flat road...where the deer lay in wait. 89 MPG.jpg
    Distance: 4.4 miles
    Results: 89.3 MPG

    What was the net elevation change for the distance?
    I work 20 miles (horizontally) and 300 ft down (vertically) from home. I will almost always get better mileage going to work than returning even though the first trip is always colder.

    The main factor you're not monitoring is the state of charge for the traction battery. For a short trip you can benefit quite a bit by relying on the battery but your next trip will suffer correspondingly.

    It's exclusively for those who can get the Prius trip computer to say 99.99 mpg. :D

    You might have a particular magical *route* that can help you

    Had 99.2 last year in my 2012 lift back model four and Fuelly corresponded with 92.9 on a 10.7 mile trip... Working the MPGs this year and averaging 59-70 MPGs per trip without focusing... My sons were in awe!

    Now that's impressive!. I am still trying to average over 50 per tankful. These cars are very relaxing and fun to drive.
