    I think they started wandering (further) off in Windows 7, with:

    * Hiding/subverting drop down menus
    * Yet another layer of distance from files, with "Libraries/My Documents".
    * Over the top security confounding efforts to set up a simple home network

    I don't want to even think about what they've done with version 8, LOL.

    When I go to places like Best Buy, the sales force does not seem up to speed on Windows 8.

    It's best when installed on notebooks with touchscreens - not many of them at this time.

    Having said that, the next best thing is the larger multi-touch pads on the current notebooks - the sales force does not seem to know how to you it to navigate Windows 8, much less education potential customers.

    Those of us that switched from Windows to Mac after years of using windows are just going along without a bunch of hassles. Simple easy to use user interface, and stability. I have Windows 7 on my macs in a virtual box and only use it for those one or two programs which do not have a Mac version that I can't wrap in wine wrapper and install.

    For some of our customers that have no computer experience they love Windows 8. All they do is Skype, email and surf the web it works great for them.

    There is already a win7 interface in win8, and if the account is set to admin, it shows up as a tile on the start screen. Works for my wife and her games, and she wouldn't be called computer literate.
