Hi! My name is Rome. My wife and I just bought a 2007 Prius. I have a 90 minute commute round trip to work every day, so we needed something that got excellent gas mileage. We will see how it goes.

I have been reading a bunch online about "pulse and glide" and differing opinions on how to maximize MPGs. The game of it all is what appealed to me as I'm a part time nerd and a big videogame player. I used to get 25 city/32 hiway in my old inline-4 hatchback. I hope to get close to doubling that with this car. I'm sure it will take a lot of learning and trial-and error.

I bought the car used from a local dealer, a 2007 with 98k miles. Price seemed fair and it was in good condition inside and great condition outside. I know what I'm looking for with normal cars, but I felt very stupid trying to look under the hood and at the underside of the Prius to inspect it before buying. I feel like I took a big chance on this car that it is functioning correctly, particularly with the expense and importance of the electrical systems in the car.

I am looking forward to "meeting" you all and getting the most of this car.

Things I will be looking into right away on this forum:
1.) Collectively agreed upon methods for maximizing MPGs
2.) Tips on tires, particularly for winter driving in the snow where I live

Hi all I am a new user to this forum, I am considering to get a Prius 2007 that already has 170k miles on from my local dealer for $7500. I know the mileage is high but considering the price i think its a pretty good deal. The problem is the dealer said they understood that the previous owner have not replaced the battery before and that means i'll have to replace it in the near future for about $2000. Do you think i should still get it?

    Thanks in advance!!

No. I got this 2007 with 98k miles for $9400 after taxes and fees, which means the dealer price was about $8500.

$1000 less, but for 70k miles more? No thanks. I would pass.
