Does anyone know if one can simply get a key fob that has the a/c button on it and use it with a prius that does not come with the sun roof option?

The Plug-in also has remote A/C. To add it would probably involve changing modules and some programming. It's not listed as an accessory.

If there is a mod who could move this over to the technical discussion forum maybe it would receive some better traffic and be in a more appropriate place?

Thanks. Bit the bullet today and bought a prius IV that didn't have a window. My first Prius. :D

Welcome to the club! I love mine, had it for 4 months now. I have to admit I just love hardly ever buying gas anymore...used to be a weekly thing.

Don't feel bad, you're not missing much. I have it and never use it. Car cools down plenty fast and I live in Florida.

Even the solar roof is pretty much a gimmick, but I absolutely love the sunroof.

I should qualify my comments - I rarely use AC in my car, sunroof open is great for me, so if you never put your windows down it might be more important to you...but the AC in the Prius works great so it'll cool you down fast.

Thanks for the welcome and the tips. Given the size of the solar panel, I figured there wasn't much that it could do other than give the green crowd some street cred.

The solar roof is capable of 27v at 6.3a if you have an interest in the technical detail ;) Mine will be used with a battery charge controller to charge my 14v battery's that I use for my Amateur Radio equipment.

What color Four did you buy? Welcome to the Prius addiction :D

It is blue. Nauticle Blue me thinks, but I am not sure. Quite happy with it. Bought it Tuesday and took an 800 mile road trip Wednesday. My wallet is in love. 44 mpg fully loaded down with three people, two dogs, a boat load of baggage and 4-5 hours of mountain driving. Before we hit the mountains we were running right at 50 mpg. I am impressed.

Awesome :) Is it a 2010/2011? Those came in a very pretty blue color. The 12/13's are dark blue. The gas mileage on these car's is amazing. The plug in folks are pulling in real high mpg numbers but have to plug in to do it ;)

It's a 2010. I wanted a plug in to begin with, but the math kept getting in the way. It's just far cheaper and practical over the period that I keep cars to go with the std prius.

I looked at the plug in also but wanted the solar roof so I bought a Four. I don't get to drive mine much as I travel in rental cars more than I drive my own :) I bought mine in late April 2012 and have 1200 miles on it today. Still a cool car to drive when I get to :)

The first Prius I drove was a 2010 blue II as it was called back then. That is all it took and I was hooked :D

Only 12oo miles, good grief. That's almost nothing. 3 fill ups in more than a year, you might as well be driving a PIP.

Your tires will dry rot before the tread wears down.

Unfortunately :( I keep it in our garage all the time so weather isn't a contributing factor.

My grandmother kept a mercury country squire in her garage for a decade and a half, a smidge over 12,000 miles, the tread was fabulous but the sidewalls were dry rotted. Just sayin. Man oh man, still wish we had that car.

My wife likes to hang onto the older cars. I tend to buy a new one after 6 years. Wonder if there is something that I should be spraying on my tires?

I think that would have been a Colony Park.
