And you have to get 66.7 avg mpg to make the list (for a very short time)?

If anyone with a "v" is going to do it, it's going to be mcmoyer. My money is on him.
Come on Marlon!! It's easy. No pressure. You are the only one who can represent us in the the Top 20 MPG Record Holders (even if you get bumped rightaway).

Yes it is tank average. Look at post #582. I've updated my recent tank on that post.

Sorry. I get it now. I said "66.7 avg mpg" and you said "67.6 avg mpg". I thought you didn't read my post. It turns out I didn't read yours carefully. My bad.

Heck, pretty soon anything less than 70 mpg won't make the list.

Here is my latest effort in hypermiling to yield 73.3 mpg. Techniques used are P&G, ridge riding, DWB, DWL, potential parking, and rabbit timing. OE tires set at 42 psi. Temps hovering around 60-70 degrees.

Great job! What is ridge riding?

This technique has to be taken with a grain of salt however and is dependent of where you drive. On many road surfaces around here we don't get much grooving (not as much asphalt). Therefore, it's actually better to go where everyone else has driven since slightly less water should be there due to others splashing it away.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but methinks Vincent has posted an even higher number and needs to be updated. I want to have a proper target :)

Ok. Sitting in my hotel room here at the To Go Before event and I think I have the list updated. Please check your listing and ensure I have you updated and listed.

I am open to splitting the lists into models if that is the consensus. If so I will do it on Wednesday when I have a real computer. :)

Congrats to those who moved up the list or improved their old numbers regardless if you're on the list or not. Big congrats to Vincent. The first 90mpg tank on our PC list!

I vote for splitting the lists into different Prius versions.

What would concensus be, 80 or 90 percent for, the rest against?

Also, might make it easier on you if you just do a top 10 for each version.

Ha Ha ~ You guys kill me. First there is a challenge issued for the "c" drivers to step up, now you can't take the heat. :)
O.K. just kidding. The c is obviously the superior vehicle. I'll have a posting soon which will detail my major fail at a planned attack on a 1000 mile tank. Interesting results nonetheless.

I set aside four days to attempt a 1000 mile tank. (I have put as much as a measured [by the pump] 10.1 gallons in my tank.) Plus I have driven 100 miles and pulled a 99.9+. I put these two facts together and figured - why not? I've ordered new wheels and tires, it is going to be 100 degree weather here in Texas soon - I prefer A/C. So the time is/was now.

    The best laid plans....
My four days were chopped to two :(
    So, I did the best I could: IMG_3580 (700x264).jpg

    IMG_3581 (700x339) (2).jpg IMG_3588 (700x580).jpg

That said, I used two different pumps for the initial and final fills. I put gas in both times until the pump refused to go any farther. I suspect that my calculated 114.46 mpg is inflated somewhat. I wish our digits went beyond 99.9 !

ADDENDUM: Original steel wheels and Turanza tires. 39 front 37 rear. Outside temps ranged from 79 to 96. Driving techniques mostly same as original post @ 86.1 mpg. I did not turn the car off when making little pit stops for snacks, drinks or draining same. This lowers the average mph of course. I concentrated on gliding, coasting and trying to increase MPG while the engine was working (scangauge). Most accelerations were very gradual using battery as much as possible. First day consisted of two sessions separated by a 2 hour break. Second day one session.

How does one get 700mpg + on one tank. Please share your knowledge.

Yes! A neighborhood watch person who wondered why I kept driving through the same route followed me until I slowed down :) and she pulled up to inquire if , perhaps, I had lost a dog. I went to an alternate route to allay any fears that I was a crazed whatever.

You have such a way with words. The good news is that no one gets bumped off the list.
