I was looking for some grill-mount foglamps to put on my Prius until I found this: r a y z e r - the w i d e beam driving light Has anybody seen this before? I need it because there is a road leading to my house that has no streetlights, and I want something to augment my high-beams. I'm interested in installing one now...

I do not know, it looks like it would be illegal to use here in the US. If anything, it would have to be used off road. I highly doubt it has DOT or SAE certification.

How fast do you drive anyway? Pretty fast, I'd imagine to be outrunning your highbeams.

Have you considered HIDs? People seem to get better illumination both to the front and sides with HIDs installed.

Yeah, I'm not sure whether it's legal or not, but it was shown at SEMA a couple years back so that may be an indication of legality here in the States. However, I'm not too worried about that since the 6.4 mile road is very smoothly paved, quite wide, and rarely traveled, and in the five years I have travelled it I have not seen a single police officer. I drive about 60-70 mph on it, and I have put HIDs on the Prius, but they don't seem to do the job. There is the occasional deer crossing the road as well...

Something else to consider, the safety glass on your windshield has a layer of plastic on the inner and outer surface. Putting a pair of HID lights right up against your windshield seems to be a bad idea.

You're willing to shell out $995 for that?
