    "Oh, say, can you see
    the fuel cap's warning light..."

Odd, you would have thought that if it was a real safety issue it would have applied worldwide.

But there again, the summers we've been having recently, maybe they decided it just wasn't relevant...!

Wow! I've gotten gas 6 times in almost a year (3 times on one trip...about 5 gal each just to stop at the lowest priced station) and I've never seen this. Another 5 or 6 weeks and I'm going on a long trip again so I'll have to try and remember to watch for this.

    I did do that...still didn't see it. :(

Wow, a special pump just for that?

The fuel tank of your vehicle has a special structure, which requires
a reduction in fuel tank pressure before refueling. After the opener
switch has been pressed, it will take several seconds until the vehicle
    is ready for refueling.

    Before refueling the vehicle

Turn the “POWER” switch off and close all the doors and windows.

Confirm the type of fuel. (
    P. 176)

    Opening the fuel tank cap

    Press the fuel filler door
    opener switch.
The screen to the left is displayed
    for a short period. Wait
    until “REFUEL READY” is displayed,
    then proceed to the
    next step.
    STEP :)

The fueling system is the same on both the Advanced and Base. I personally never have seen the "countdown"; it is always "Begin fueling" right when I push the button. But then, I am almost always fueling up after running on the ICE, given my 25 mile each-way commute.

The N/A that both Bonefish Blues and I show in our profile is because there doesn't seem to be a forum choice for the UK spec of the Plug in. It seems to be somewhere between your base and advanced. Don't know if it is the same as all other European models, or even the Japanese model, since they also drive on the correct side of the road...

You guys can drive on whatever side of the road you want, right, left, or wrong. I'm driving in the traffic lane, much smoother there. Wonder if the higher volatility, for cold starts, of winter formula gas is more likely to initiate the countdown?

Hm that's odd. I've never seen the countdown- my filler flap always opens instantly.

I filled-up gasoline this past weekend and paid attention to the display and /or any difference on it. The gas flap opened instantly with out any previous display changes.
Could it be that I drove for a while in EV mode depleting my batteries and left the gas station in the same mode? I imagine that gas vapors in the tank are there regardless of engine operation. The local temperature was in the 80 deg.

Never seen a countdown in over a year. My commute is beyond the EV range, plus 100 mile trips to visit family, so I have to get gasoline every couple of weeks.
