    Hey everyone.

Just bought a new Prius v last week. Also have an 09 lift back. Wanted something with more room.

So far, we just absolutely love it.

I'm a musician and haul a lot of gear around. One of the most disappointing things (design-wise) with the wagon is the gap between the cargo floor and the rear seats. when you load a lot of stuff in, that gap is pretty big and if you're trying to roll anything in, it's problematic.

Sure, it's great to be able to slide the rear seats back and forth and to recline them, but I'm wracking my brain trying to think of a mod I could do to fill that gap in the back and still be able to flip the seats up and down.

Any suggestions? Am I the only one who's noticed this?

I'll be watching this topic, my dogs keep falling into that gap even with a rug over it. The standard Prius is much nicer with the seats folded down.

A couple of pillows stuffed under the rug? I have an old stiff backed shag carpet piece from the '60s that I use all the time when I'm moving things. Even cover the sides of the trunk when I've got things like a mower or furniture crammed in there. The pillows would stiffen the carpet piece both for sliding and for the dogs, wouldn't they?

The place I'm taking the v to get the windows tinted today also does interior customization. I'm going to see what they say about this matter. I'll keep you posted!

Even some kind of sandbag would do the trick. I was thinking about a 2x6 or even 2x4 ripped to a wedge shape. You could just drop it in there and when you raise the seats it would just pop out. Might scratch things up though.

Styrofoam large swim noodles might easily wedge in...have a canvas or fabric sock made to match the interior color......
sold at wlmart, walgreens or some food chains. Seems silly, but the foam is easy to work with.

What about a thin sheet of ply to cover the gap with a cargo mat over it? Maybe even hinged off the back seats.

I bought a sausage shaped pillow from Walmart that does the trick quite nicely. I'll guess the interior is foam, and the length is perfect. My wife picked it up, I think for about 30 - 40 USD

Latest idea is modifying one of those hard foam yoga back stretchers. I think it could just be left in the space and should fill the gap. I'll keep everyone posted

Use one of those expanded foam "noodles" that kids use in a pool. Just about perfect diameter and length.
