I purchased velcro strips and wrapped two around each vizor. Then I cut up an office type folder to fit beneath the velcro strips on each one (size optional). The 'folder material' is stiff, and it will easily slide within the velcro strips for sun protection. And it will easily slide out of the way when you want to use the vizor mirrors. And; if you are burdened with the need for aesthetics, the folder material comes in various colors at the office supply store.

    cars I know:
95 Ford Windstar- large visor that slides, as well as second smaller visor underneath
98 Chrysler T&C sliding visor extensions built into visor
    01 mercedes-sliding visor

All cover the whole side. The supposed to be inferior, terrible, USA Ford allows front and side at the same time, great safe visors. Apparently the Yaris gets extensions too? That's annoying as the only complaint I really have on my 07 design is the lack of visor extensions. They could easily design that in.

They're about as ugly as British people's teeth, so yes, they're horrifying!

You have two female voices on your Nav unit?? I only have one, or at maybe I haven't used the menus with the other one.

[there has to be a joke here, somewhere]

...and you can jump out out of the car at the office and take the visor in with you, with your files for the meeting already in it.

The real trouble, that no one has mentioned, is that the extra cardboard ruins your gas mileage, and THAT is the reason that Toyota didn't include an extended visor.

That's great! Try driving for 6 hours with the sun on the side of your face every day. If you don't have a solution that helps, keep QUIET!

    LOL...
There are some people that cannot stand the thought of somebody pointing out a flaw in 'their' car.
Think of it as 'pride of ownership' gone wrong....:D

I share your frustration with the cheesy visors, believe me!
You may wanna give the file folder solution a whack.

    BTW.... :welcome: to PriusChat!!!

    Good Luck!!!

I am one who drives with the sun in my side window and after never owning a car without the visor extension, I think Toyota is cheesy and lame for not providing me with this small item of convenience, especially considering how much these toys cost. I like the mileage but have to admit, just like my Honda the Asian vehicles go way to cheap when it comes to interior detail. Just Sayin... Good decisions usually require some compromise.

We've had our Prius for 3 yrs and the short visor it the thing that bugs me most about it, too. Our 2001 Accord has a pull-out visor extender!

Sheesh! How cheap is TM? It's bad enuf that I'll buy a different car next time. My sister is very happy with her VW Passat that gets good mileage (not as good as Prius, of course) and is much more comfortable than the prius.

Can you open and close it with one hand? Have a pic of it stowed away (front of you)?

If I don't use it, I take it off and store between the armrest and driver's seat.

I obtained and cut to shape and applied some perforated electrostatic shade plastic. For me that covered the problem area. It is in a section of window I don't use to see through unless it's wound down.
