What in the world is wrong with you edthefox5. First the comment on the experienced trader then the HB. I don't know you and you sure as heck do not know me. The 2007 year included the touring edition as well as just the standard HB (Hatchback version). I know how to negotiate but I was just asking for more info from actual people who had made a recent trade. My intent was to just gather info from multiple sources, including pruischat, KBB, NADA and CR (for you Consumer Reports). If you cannot add something then do not post. I am sorry I even asked. I thought I would get something useful, not insults...There is no such thing as to much info when looking to sell or trade a vehicle.

I've been looking at a lot of used prii lately. I think you have to sell privately to get closer to your 12-13k. I just sold my wife's 2005 Pontiac vibe in 24hrs on Craigslist.

I think part of why dealers will offer you lower on a trade is they know its convenient. You won't be without a car. If you sell privately you risk not finding a good deal quickly and if you sell it after you get your new car you risk sitting on 2 for a bit.

I would think that a dealer that gives you 12-13 for the trade will bump up the sale price of the new Prius to make up the difference. Good luck on the trade.
