Cut Wire next to transmission ECU

    Does anyone know what this wire is connected to specifically? My air conditioning blows hot air, the compressor does not come on even with the A/C set on LO and blowing at High, and I noticed this wire has been cut/chewed through in my vehicle. Could it be the culprit and if so, anyone know where I can order one and replace it myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated, these 90 degree days are killing me.

    Can't see much in that pic. How many wires/leads are involved? Just one, or is it a harness with multiple wires in it?

    If it's just one wire, you could possibly strip some insulation off the ends and, if there is enough slack, use a connector to join the wires together. You can temporarily test what the wire does by connecting them temporarily with an alligator test clip.

    It's one black and one yellow wire. The wire pictured is one I found online, mine has been snipped/chewed at both ends so that there is not enough wire on either end to strip back. My wife's Prius has the non-damaged wire and she has no A/C issues. To me it seems like the culprit, but I would rather find out what the wires were connected to and see if I can replace it myself than to take it to Toyota and have them charge me an arm and a leg for 5 minutes work.

    Easiest thing to do then, since you have your wife's car and harness as well is to unplug her harness and see if her AC behaves like yours.

    Then, once you've determined that those wires affect the AC, go ahead and remove yours and either repair the wires by soldering in some jumper wires. Or take the pieces to the parts dept and see how much it is for a new one.

    If it were mine, I'd just repair it.

    I just went and unplugged it from my wife's car and the compressor never came on, so I went to my car and went to unplug the ends only to realize that one of the ends has a connector and the other end of the wire seems to wind back behind into the firewall and somewhere I cannot see. I'm going to attempt to pull the wires out of the connector and add two new ones, pull back the covering on the other frayed end and electrical tape them together. Hopefully this will solve my sweating problem.

    You're welcome. :)

    However, don't just join the patched wires with electrical tape. Use something like a solderless crimp on butt connector or a twist on wirenut and electrical tape.
