SiriusXM Onyx

Does either your Onyx or Prius has bluetooth capability? If yes, then you can purchase either a bluetooth transmitter or receiver. If your Prius does not have bluetooth, you'll going to connect the receiver to the AUX - which is what you're doing now except there's no wire between your Onyx and AUX. Personally, either option is cumbersome to use because you'll take the extra step to turn-off the bluetooth or else it will run out of charge. Hope this helps.

I had an Onyx in my Civic. Not aware of any BT feature, although I couldn't use it anyway. I just used the FM transmit to a dead station, which worked fine in my Civic but did not in a borrowed 4Runner. Was puzzled as to what the big difference was.

It also had an aux output but you got some feedback from the cigarette lighter.

 

I can move the radio into any car, although I'll be moving the subscription over to the Prius when I get around to calling. The issue was with the 4Runner's FM reception. The channel that was rock solid in the Civic for carrying the XM didn't work well. The 4Runner would pick up a station on that frequency, while my Civic would not. Maybe the 4Runner antenna was "too good".

Keep in mind that in the DC area, our FM dial is jam packed with stations. It is hard to find a "dead" one. That might not be a problem where you are, and the FM transmitter may work fine. Here is a site you can use to see what frequencies should be empty in your area.

If you do have bluetooth audio, you could just subscribe to the SiriusXM app and stream from your phone. Not sure how well the app works.

And the SiriusXM "Lynx" has bluetooth...and is also the most expensive radio they offer.

XM Premier gives you the "Best of Sirius", which for me, basically means Howard Stern and NFL games. Not sure what other channels are with it.
