    Hi All,

I have been lurking on this forum for some time now, in preparation of getting a 2nd Gen Prius.
Well, that time has come ... and I am a new owner of a 2005 model. While it has 148K miles on it, one of the local toyota dealers just replaced the hybrid batteries and the dealer had new tires on it. I believe I got a very good deal on it overall and can't complain. I have been driving it about 1 full week now, commuting 130 miles a day.

First thing I noticed was how the car was behaving with cross-winds - which reminded me of the previously reading I did about the various "cures" to solve it. So one of the first things I am doing is putting on Irv's chassis supports. It should be here about mid week (purchased it from him on eBay). Along with that, I am gearing up for a tune-up and fluids changed. All I have records on is the oil change that was done from the dealer when I purchased it. Here is how my day will be spent next Saturday:

    Transaxle Fluid change
    Engine Coolant change
    Inverter Coolant change
    Spark-plug change

Again, I have no clue when any of this was last done. I would rather re-do anyone's recent work than just "go with it". I already picked up the appropriate NGK plugs. Will be visiting the dealer this week to get the Toyota branded ATF and HOAT compliant coolant.

Can anyone suggest any other quick do-it-your-self maintenance?
    Thanks all!

Type your VIN into Toyota's website.

That'll take the guess work out of it. The cross-brace is a waste of money, IMHO. Refuse delivery and get your money back. You said the hybrid batt is new...what about the 12v?

Good luck to you...hope your brake actuator doesn't go out...

Thanks Rich for your reply. Yeah, there isn't much. Other than some recall work, the recent hybrid batt change, and various other items. The last time any mention of this level of maintenance work was for the 60K "max" maintenance, I believe it says. So I guess I have some work to do! It may have been done, but I guess not a Toyota dealer.

Send a sample of the trans fluid for analysis to wearcheck.com to see how bad it is. Hopefully it was changed somewhere in its life. Would love to see the report. Lots of us have done this to contribute to the database
    here. Its $25.

    There's a sticky here on trans uoa's.
