I've owned my 2005 Prius for a few month. I drove it to Texas and back. Now I haven't had any service on it. And its about to hit 100K miles. For the brake service should I take it to a dealer or some regular maintenance shop? Should I always take it to the dealer? They are so expensive! Just looking for some advice since my 05 prius will be my only car and I want to take good care of her. Thanks for anyone's advice.

Oh and what is a hybrid cleaning system? They said on the phone they could do it for $250...is it worth it?

Any shop will do your brakes; you can DIY if you're careful to pull the under-bonnet relays which control ABS.

Hybrid cleaning probably refers to the hi-volt cooling fan...also DIY.

They'll probably sell you fairy dust to give you more MPG and drill speed-holes in the body to make the car go faster. I'd run away from them as fast as your Prius can run.

Our Toyota dealership charges for brake inspections, other shops do not...
