As some of you know, I've recently purchased a used 2007 Pkg 5 w/ 48k miles for $13k. I forgot to ask the previous owner if he took care of the recalls for the car. I even looked the pile of maintenance the car has been through.

As a new owner of a Gen II, do I need to majorly worry about the water pump and steering recalls I came across on some searches? I also notice a mild "clunk" sound when I turn the steering wheel to the right. I'm getting a bit nervous these past days. I know I can take it to Toyota and find out what's been done to the car via computer system, but am afraid to know that this recall hasn't been addressed and that by now it might be too late to be fixed for free.

    What do you suggest?

I suggest you stop being afraid and put your big boy pants on and take the car to the dealer and see if your car has had the recalls done. If not its free.

You can add to it. I have everything I have ever done to my 07 on that site. I think its the main reason they never bother trying to upsell me when I go in for recalls. They see I'm all over it.

I'll sell you some speed-holes. :D Plus I'll perform a Hybrid Cleaning for $250 (limited time, act now). 'cause, you know, those batteries have to be cleaned.

    I just bought a used Prius (2008).

Right away I took it to Toyota to check it out (bought from a Dodge dealership)

They picked up 3 recalls that we're never taken care of and it's free . No charge.

Toyota announced date 11/15/12 for water pump and steering recall. I don't think this guy did it...? Your thoughts

Looks like the steering shaft inspection work was not done if your car's records are complete. Let your local dealer research what was done to your car and what remains to be done with respect to recall work.

I guess I need to look at it better. I did see a place to update my mileage, I'll try that.
    Thanks.

Check your history too. There is a button to add your own maintenance there.

Sorry but I don't think you know anything about law.
Recalls have to be FREE. It would be STUPID if they weren't because then GM and Chrysler would actually be profitable if they charged to fix all the crap on their cars.
