EV up & down, seasonal effect

    That increased resistance contributes to a drop in efficiency when drawing too.

    Does the lower temperature result in lower battery capacity as well? My records show that charging my PiP takes the same amount of energy regardless of temperature.

    If you live in CA you probably aren't going to see the 100 degree temperature swings that john is talking about.

    Depends on where one lives. We do have Mt. Whitney and Death Valley, after all.

    But where I live, the charging temperatures only range from low 40's in the winter to low 60's in the summer. My EV range goes from 9.5 miles in the winter to 11.2 in the summer.

    Are others seeing a substantial variation in charging energy with temperature?

    Does charging generate enough battery heat to mitigate the efficiency effect of lower ambient temperature?

    Yes! This is why some owners set the in colder weather so the charging is complete just before they departing their morning commute.
