I just don't feel the need to prove myself to you as you clearly will devalue anything I say.

Ah, excuse me but by "trite mocking phrase" does that also include "Far Left flaming rhetoric" and using the word "typical" to dismiss people and opinions who don't agree with you? Lighten up, Francis. :)

If all you can say when someone proffers and issue for discussion is that it is "Crap" and not support the statement, please don't waste the bandwidth. Because that is all it is wasted bandwidth. I believe your understanding of "Copyright" laws are lacking. Something of common knowledge need not be credited especially when it is only a snippet of the total. I was trying to show that if anything Lamm is not some Right-Wing whacko if anything he is somewhere to the left of center. Something that you could have easily done by typing "Dick Lamm" in Google and hitting the enter key. But why apply critical thinking to a subject when you can just say CRAP?

ps Unimpressive resume? Gov of Colorado for three terms why is that unimpressive?

Clinton's (and the Congress) welfare reform---Republicans bitched about "welfare Cadillacs" but offered nothing constructive---precludes this from happening, either for most citizens or most immigrants. Now it's a little money and Food Stamps, a little training, a little child care if needed, then up and out.

Never needed one. I'm batting a 75% chance of being able to beat any misdemeanor vehicular citations by myself. That is, of the ones I actually manage to get caught for.

Ok, now it's because Eisenhower said so....
..and nevermind those data sources you previously cited as "proof"...
...can't even acknowledge my points were perfectly valid against such a one sided data perspective. Of course, pretty typical, cover your ears in such situations...

    You're a joke.

Well Jack, I'll be the first to admit I don't know too much about the welfare issue with respect to immigrants, so I can't really comment.

No, I'm afraid you aren't charged with dictating the acceptable length of other posters' rebuttals. I say again:

    Crap.

I know who Dick Lamm is. I don't need to scurry to Google for all my information and historical context. Thanks for the tip, though. Again, I don't CARE about the author. The IDEAS are bogus. I don't dismiss people as whackos. I leave that to the Right, and their multitude of tools in the populace.

    Ps Wasting bandwith? That's rich.

Being Governor for 3 terms and still not learning anything about what supports his state's economy (gee, who do you think BUILT all those houses that are now paying taxes for your state in its historic housing boom?), and what basic principles founded his nation? Yeah, I would call that pretty damned unimpressive.

Mere discriptions of his response to my questions. Since the message was meant specifically for him it indicates a certain level of sensitivity within you. I believe this sensitivy stims for the fact that you are a liberal and I am not. Therefore, since there are areas of disagreement, you assume that I am dismissive of all people with a liberal bent. I am not. I will and I believe that most people that proffer an issue for discussion will dismiss someone's opinion that consists of the statement "CRAP" and when questioned as to his reason for saying it is crap offers anything but the explanation.

Henceforth, let it be known in the realm of Priuschat that all statements offered towards a issue opened for discussion that consist of the word "CRAP" without additional explanations shall be dismissed and the orginator of such statement ("CRAP") shall also be dismissed. I have spoken. . . ya'll are dismissed

ps Francis? I am Wildkow you can address me as "Sir Feralbovine" and by the way I have "lightened up" by buying a Prius I have lightened by pocketbook, the pollution load in the San Joaquin Valley, and our dependence on oil as a nation.

I actually issued a similar edict a few days ago!

I'm not sure this is all coincidental!

    Poor helpless defenseless Amerika.

The United States will destroy itself with its own fear, by turning to fascism for security, just as Ben Franklin foresaw.

That is a phrase from that Bill Murray/Dan Akyroyd movie. The line came from the seargeant played by Warren Oates. It was in response to one of the recruits who seemed rather too serious. :)

You are the only person on this forum who "gets" it. You are quite right. The wealthy could care less about anyone who has to make it on education and determination. Unfortunately, it comes down to who you know. Everybody is looking out for #1 and to hell with everyone else.

Under the merit system rules and procedures employed by most jurisdictions, hiring practices are, I'd say, about 4-5 times as "fair" as in the private sector. I say this as one who has worked in eight different government jurisdictions (city, county and one state) AND 9 or 10 of "private" jobs. I have also served on screening panels for government human resource departments, and have been happy with how scrupulously fair "the system" CAN work.

Even the merit system concept CAN be bypassed and abused, and I've seen it. But we're a far cry from saying, across the board, "it's who you know".

"Everyone looks out for #1"---true; goes without saying.

"...and to hell with everyone else." ---not necessarily true; partly up to YOU.
