Rear hub/bearing replacement

    I'm replacing the rear hub/bearing assembly on my 2010 Prius. It seems pretty straight forward. Can anyone tell me the correct torque for the 4 bolts holding it on? Also what is the correct torque for the 2 bolts holding the rear brake caliper on?

    Thanks for the posted .jpgs. The install was real easy as suspected....if you can change break pads you can do this. The only slightly difficult part was disconnecting the speed sensor connector because the notch to disconnect it was facing down and I was working from over the top of the assembly. I ended up leaving it on until after I had unbolted the hub and had someone hold the old hub while I rotated it 180 degrees so I could see what to unhook. The car sounds and rides great now.

    Would you mind commenting on how many miles your 2010 had, and as best as possible, what the sound/symptoms were that led to your conclusion that the rear bearings needed replacement?

    I'm about to do this on 2010 140K miles, because of increasing road noise on fairly new, good looking tires. There's also a loud rattling sound from the hub (at any speed) that has appeared along side the road noise so I'm hoping this clears up both.

    It seems like a pretty straightforward job but I'm wondering about the alignment and the use of shims after reading this post Rear Alignment Shim and Hub Bolt Torque | PriusChat ...

    Will an alignment be necessary? My thought is that I will need to install new hub assembly... go to alignment shop for reading... buy appropriate shims... then re-do the install using the shims.... then alignment shop again to verify...

    Does this sound about right.... or do I only need to worry about shims if there is some problem experienced?
