Okay so there are numerous posts mentioning this city here gets free parking etc.

I would like to consolidate in one place all the Cities that offer Free Parking to Hybrids.

Here is what I have come to gather, parking is free in:

    ^ Los Angeles City
^ San Jose - If Purchased in San Jose from a Downtown dealer and Registered with City
    ^ Berkely

If I am wrong let me know, & if you live in California and know parking is free in your city post it here!

I could really use some good news that parking is Free in Monterey or Fresno or something of those sorts ;)

Parking in San Jose is only free if you purchased from one of the two Toyota dealers in San Jose and got the permit from them. Anyone else will be and has been ticketed.

I will guess that they give you some sort of special sticker to place on your Prius?

i believe when i filed for mine.. and got rejected because i didn't purchase it in San Jose.. it was a sticker.. like a window plaque.. but that was almost 2 years ago.. my baby is getting old :(

Isn't this kinda cross thread from your other post? in a way?

    Slight correction:
You can purchase from one of the THREE Toyota dealers in San Jose (Piercey, Stevens Creek, and Capitol).
The permit comes from the City of San Jose; it hangs on the rear-view mirror.

Yes I got one of those and it is not really useful to me because I work in San Francisco and dont have a need to park in San Jose were the meter limit is 1 - 2 hrs. ;)

SF Board of sups had a bill that would allow fee parking at meters and city owned garages but I can't get my supervisor to tell me what happend to the bill.

I think here is the link from LA DOT: http://www.lacity.org/ladot/freepark.htm

However, it says eight months pilot program from October 1, 2004. Does that mean the program already expired in 2005? but it also says good until June 1, 2006. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

The following site -- http://www.lacity.org/ladot/freepark.htm -- says the program is currently authorized to 6/30/06.

Can someone please post URLs from reputable sites (like one run by the City of Berkeley) that says it's free. I did some digging around and couldn't find anything official, only groups/people requesting it and speculation that it'd happen.
