I look forward to those coupons for my favorite restaurant. The nice thing is I can get there an back on a full battery charge with a couple of EV miles to spare.

In my situation and like many other people's situation, I would save about 40 cents a day since I could only charge once per day. I noticed that a lot of EV drivers never talk about that electricity is not free. After factoring in the cost of electricity, the saving is about 40 cents. With a premium of $2500 for the PiP, it will take 17 years before I would totally recover my $2500 investment. Here's another problem, I have a feeling that the battery would need to be replaced before the 17 years period. Now, I'm wondering if I could get a tax credit for the battery replacement. $2500 is assuming that you're qualify for the tax credit. If not, PiP costs $5000 more. If Toyota wants an arm and a leg for the lithium battery, I have no problem driving to places using my standard Prius since the PiP battery is so low in capacity (12 miles). I know some people claimed they could get more. But in the winter time, they are not going to get more, they may even get less.

I get your drift and I agree the Prius isn't exactly "fun" to drive in the traditional sense but it is "pleasant" to drive. Most of the satisfaction is the better MPGs but you also know it's a quality product that will hold up. And I must say, despite all the knocks I've heard about the base model seats, it's quite comfortable too. I've slept in mine on occasion with the seat fully reclined. It holds the road well in all weather so there's little not to like. Sure, they could maybe recalibrate the electric steering for better feel and redo the suspension & shocks for better handling; maybe offering a package including sway bars for those who want it. However, for the most part, it's a fine car just as it is.

Thanks, I'd not checked this out. My only beef with it is the reduced ground clearance. The Prius is low enough already; I've already scraped the chin in front on a couple occasions. That aspect would be a deal breaker for me. If they made one with the same clearance, I'd likely get one.

Cost savings...tires, brakes, fuel cost, repairs due to Toyota reliability, less car to wash and wax, etc. High technology and power seat in the Four package. My favorites include the blizzard pearl paint, zero problems after 14,000 miles and making a game of getting high mileage on back roads when traffic is light (never impede traffic flow for fuel mileage due to safety and respect for other drivers).

'Cause my car looks cool and it's fun to drive. I've been thru those go fast car years and now enjoy my hybrid.

It was proven a while back that using PWR Mode gives you better mileage than running the other modes. Try it for a tank or two and watch those mpg numbers go up :)

i hear ya. Fortunately i was too poor to afford anything remotely fast in my "wanted a fast car" days and now even if i was filthy rich i couldn't imagine wanting anything more than my prius for transportation. I just turned 29 so perhaps when i reach the midlife crisis things might change.

Since all it does is change the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal I would expect it would improve mileage for some and make mileage worse for others. It all depends on how they use their right foot. I'm happy with ECO because I can always "floor it" when necessary which is very seldom.

I enjoy driving my 3rd Gen Prius because of the comfort, fuel economy, listening to music on Pandora, XM, and Iheart radio. In addition, I like that being stuck in traffic is not stressful anymore, since I'm using so little gas and enjoying my music. I just rented a gas guzzling xterra while on vacation, and it made me appreciate my Prius even more :)
