    Which 17" wheels are better?

The Persona package 5 spoke wheels?

Or the Prius Plus V spokes?:

Both in terms of looks and performance.

I actually don't know if I like those that much, they look a bit busy.

They are 114.3 diameter bolt circle anyway... Won't fit the non-v.

Those are the stock 17s found on the Five, not the Persona wheels. The Persona wheels are the dark chrome version of Five 17s.

Both look nice, but you might have a difficult time finding a set of the Persona wheels as I heard Toyota would only sell them to Persona owners as replacements. Don't like the Prius v wagon 17s at all.

Personally, if I had the stock 15s, I'd pick the Plus wheels over the Persona as the latter looks too similar to the silver 17" stockers that you see everywhere.

Yeah, this makes sense to me. And, the Plus wheels can be easily purchased, whereas it may be difficult to obtain the Persona wheels.

Forged Plus wheels for both looks and questionable performance. The Plus wheel is lighter than the Persona or V (five) trim.

Is your Prius lowered? Also, do both of these 17" wheels take 215/45/17 tires?

The Persona/Five 17" wheel are more aero efficient, but don't know if it's significant enough to notice.

Please provide a source to back up this statement.

The ultimate wheel guide to MPG is going to be combined wheel/tire weight and LRR tires.

Sorry, but this is not a correct statement. Rolling resistance is the main factor that influences mpg, whereas weight (tire plus wheel) plays a much smaller role. Everyone knows that jacking up the tire pressure directly affects the rolling resistance. If you switch to wider but much lighter wheels, you're in fact going to take a mpg hit as you've increased the rolling resistance from the increased tire width and to a much lesser extent, increased frontal aero drag from the wider tires. So contrary to popular belief, the combined wheel/tire weight is actually a small factor (but not as small as frontal or side aero drag). This is evident by members who've switched to lighter 17 x 7" wheels and saw no increase in mpg compared to the factory 17s.

Persona... They look cleaner and brighter...

I don't hate the prius plus wheels just something about them being forged they have a dark look to them and something about dark chrome on a prius doesn't match as well than the persona ones

Was also stuck on the decision and after looking at side by side pictures the brighter/cleaner/OEM look won me over with the personas but to each their own :)

Agreed. I guess what I meant to say, all else being equal, comparing same diameter wheel and same size tire, weight would come in to play. But you're right, the wider 17" wheel, even same weight, will not perform as well MPG-wise than the stock rim.

More a function of tread width than rim width.

Can vary (+/-) tread width on the same rim and achieve the same (-/+) result.

Conversely, can use same tire (and tread width) on narrower or wider rim and only likely difference will be outside face of rim/tire being recessed, flush or proud of fender line and free stream.

:)I really like my Prius 5, 17" wheels. Good looking wheel and easy to clean. Would prefer a 18" wheel, but that's a small wish. I've only seen two other aftermarket wheels I'd consider.

I like option two myself. The Persona wheels are just kind of ehh. To me they are like someone said "make the most straightforward 5 spoke wheel you can think of" and that's what they came up with. Just boring.
