I'm a newbe and I've just bought a prii c 2 and I hate the beep beep horn on it. I've been looking at some hella and wolo low and high note horns and I want to know the difficulty rating. I installed some on a PT Cruiser I had but this Prius c has all this extra electric stuff to work around not taking in the tightness of the engine compartment. Advice would be deeply appreciated.

I replaced my horn with two premium Toyota horns. Should be able to find them fairly easily. Installation was pretty straight forward and the sound a 100% improvement from the initial wimpy squeak.

I put a set of "Bad Boy" air horns on mine. They fit between the grill and radiator easily. Then I unplugged the factory horn and plugged the wire into the new horns compressor. The only problem was the fuse was too small to carry the extra power. I have had them on the car for 3 months now with only 1 problem. My wife doesn't like them, says they are too loud.

I also put in a WOLO Bay Boy horn but wasn't able to fit it in between the grill and radiator. It looks like it will fit, however I wasn't able to remove the bumper to get it in there. Uncle Sam, did you remove the bumper for your install? Did you get around the fuse issue by simply installing a 15 amp fuse?

Daniel Moore, the horn install shouldn't be difficult if the horns aren't physically too big. The Bad Boy horn seems just a little too big to fit between the grill and radiator without removing the bumper.

If the oem fuse is rated too low, then you should use a relay to get power from a higher rated fuse in the fuse box or an open terminal in the fuse box.

Thanks for that info Uncle Sam, also what do you think about the snail size horns sold at Harbor Freight, seem small.

I wound up ordering a pair of Fiamm Freeway Blasters from Amazon. Any thoughts on wiring or fit. I looked behind the grill and saw only one horn almost center behind the grill.

I like this idea more and more. Was contemplating a larger set but it's impossible.. The car is so crammed tight (er, "efficiently layed out") that I can't even see where the existing horn is.. Let alone slap some horn blasters under there somewhere..

Where are you guys mounting the new horns? I just cannot see where a good location would be under the hood.. How are you guys tapping into the exisitng wiring harness? Do the horns plug in the same as OEM? Where is the OEM horn located for that matter? Sounds to me like it's down low center by the radiator.. Can't see from underneath as there's a plastic skid plate to un bolt and when I was looking I didn't have time to fiddle with removing it.

Wound up with another problem with my Fiamm elGrande's horn swap. They both came packaged as a high note/low note set, but since I installed they sound as both are the same octave note, very irritating but really loud, hate the twin note sound. Do they have an adjustment to go up in pitch on the high note? Any advice appreciated.

Some horns from older model cars have an adjustment screw, but I don't know if new ones do!
