Does anyone know what the little moving dot is on the bottom of the GPS icon? Image.jpg

Probably not, as I was driving northeast at the time. Logical guess, though!

:)Per the manual, Current Vehicle Position mark. Indicates the current position of the vehicle and it's directional heading.

Thanks, but unfortunately that doesn't answer his question.

It's not the arrow I'm looking at, but the little dot below it. When you're watching the dot, it's constantly moving. It looks like a busy little gnat! I only noticed it after my son pointed it out to me. It's barely apparent.

Probably GPS coordinates which always pops around. The software on GPS devices is what snaps you to the road.

this is correct. you can see this perfectly when you veer off-course – the little blue dot will actually follow your location, while the circle+arrow will continue driving correctly because it doesn't recalculate instantly.

at the same time, i'm not sure why they kept it there.

 Aren't "current position" and "directional heading" two different things? The latter, being the busy little gnat. Makes sense to me.

Actually, the former is the gnat, and it's the raw position, rather than the snapped-to-road/current-route position.

It signifies your actual current position....watch it when you leave an offramp, the ARROW takes a couple seconds to "catch up" to the dot. The dot is the actual GPS coordinate, while the arrow must FOLLOW THE MAP SOFTWARE on the roads. The dot does not follow the road at all, it can go anywhere.

actually it is odd the TOY left the dot showing.

If you stare at the tiny blue dot long enough while driving ... the only direction you will surely be heading is UP.
