A good test is let someone else drive your car, if you dare, and you drive the pickup or SUV and see what I am saying :)

Between this and your Prius being in storage 8 months out of the year, do you even drive your Prius?

On DRL, I use them. I just retired from the Fire Dept. after 24 years. We have a big truck, blaring siren and flashing lights. NO ONE ever sees us coming. But when we have our headlights on and flashing, more people see us. Cars blend into the surroundings and sometimes the only thing standing out is the headlights. Here in Oklahoma the summer sun is bright but you can always see a vehicle with the lights on.

On the seatbelt issue. I have pulled many DEAD bodies out of cars and only one time did a person have a seatbelt on. But she died because a simi pulled out and his bumper crushed her head. Every time we run on a rollover, there are dead people outside the car because they did not have on a seatbelt. While a person in the car was fine because they had the belt on. The person always got crushed by their own car. If you do not care if your loved ones have you around then go ahead and don't wear a seatbelt.

Then I hope you are fortunate enough to die before your ability to "see a car coming" is reduced by age, illness or accident.

I have noticed the past few years that I can miss seeing other vehicles. Definitely not as sharp as I was 20 years ago :(

My Prius is my summer car. I'm retired and don't get out every day. Keeps the miles down ;)

Didn't you say you were in the early 40s? Good for you on that early retirement!

Just to stay on the DLR subject without straying too far off the subject, DLR means, Diggin life, Retired.

I told you that it's hard to remember what day it is, let alone unscrambling acronyms. Believe it or not, I had it right the first time but changed it.

The DRLs did a great job today letting people know how much closer I could get to them before they cut me off.
