Quite a few would you say that being 50 miles?

I filled my tank today 10 gallons. Drove with the blinking light for maybe 200 miles wasn't really tracking. I drove for at least 60 miles with 1 mile range it hit 0 when I got home.

Ya...that is definitely pushing it. Read earlier in this thread on several different guidelines people use to figure out how far they can go.

To the OP you can easily get 100 when the bar starts to flash.

My fillup today taught me something. The bar had been blinking for a day or two. The EV/HV screen said that 7 gals. had been used, and I know (also by checking miles/mpg) that this rounds down, so it could be that 8 miles were used. I estimated that 7.9 were used. On filling I put in 8.3. So my point is that that 7-gallon reading is not as accurate as I hoped, and was almost a half-gallon off (5%). Of course, there were still 2.3 gals left, but I see now that one should not take that gallons-used reading too literally. Also the MPG for the tank appeared as 97 but dividing miles by gallons-fed gave only 93. Again, about 5% off... (of course I am not even considering the issue of whether "miles" are really miles).

Another matter in case anyone knows. The dealer (Toy. of Seattle) said I would receive some sort of welcome kit from Toyota. Several months in, that has not happened. What is needed exactly to take advantage of the free oil change Toy. is offering for the first year or two?

I'm sure you'll get to 700 easy. 700 is not possible for me due to my 80% highway driving

My first was 712 on 8.9 gallons. I can only do 3.5-4 EV miles in the city on the way in to work the rest of my EV miles are at highway speed. On the way home I only get about 1-1.5 EV miles in the city. The rest are highway. I do get another few stealth miles on the way home though.commute is about 27 miles each way with under 5 miles in the city.

    What speeds are you driving?

I needed 10 gallons to achieve 650 lol

    Using P&G?

    I can only dream about 80mpg =p

I was thinking about this today. I have 2 bars remaining on the fuel gauge. I've driven 350 HV miles and 550 EV miles. Once I hit 400 HV miles the light will start blinking. At 400 HV miles assuming I did 50 mpg in HV, wouldn't I only have burned 8 gals of gasoline?

Does the PiP have a 10 gal tank?

Hmm.. filling to 10+ gals in the tank makes me a bit nervous. But I think the fuel gauge is extremely premature. Flashing at me that I'm out of fuel when I have +2 gals of gas in a ~10 gal tank is a bit redic...

I wonder if they designed it that way because the gas sits in our cars for such a long time???

Even at .25 KWHr that Is a profit margin of 19X. At those prices it is much cheaper to use the ICE. First comes greed, then enlightenment, then acceptance OR go out of business .

Manual says tank is 10.6 gals. So yes, the fact that the bar starts blinking when about 2.6 gals is left in the tank does seem premature. Like so many gauges, the effect is psychological -- one thinks one ought to fill up. Does, at some other point, a different warning, such as "FILL TANK SOON" pop up on a display? Of course, the fun of all the record keeping we all do is that we learn the true story as to what is left.

Does the last bar quit blinking and just go out? I've never pushed it that far. Or does it just keep blinking?

I've noticed it estimates zero way too soon, so I ignore that. Just get nervous with the blinking light.

I had a system with my 06 Honda civic hybrid which did the exact same thing. When the last fuel bar went out, I had roughly 1-2 gals of gas remaining in the tank.

Have only had this prius for a year now so still getting used to it.

I think the estimates seem to be on par. I needed to fill 10.04. How many files = .6?

64 mph in EV 70ish mph in HV on the hiway. 30-40 mph in both EV or HV in the city.

Glide whenever I can.. stealth mode as often as terrain and traffic allows in town.
Still at 2 bars.. just under 700 miles hoping for 800 on this one.. lol :D
