The link works fine for me. Perhaps being in the Czech Republic your Internet connection is censored?

FYI that link is to the owners manual not the service manual.

rstark18, the link is to multiple downloads including the service manual. Please do some fact checking before making such arrogant, incorrect statements!

Please point us at the one(s) that are the Gen III service manual. I can't find any Gen III documents there big enough to be the service manuals. They are over 200 meg when compressed.

@Mylar, well I was being nice but since you're being such a D&%K I'll call you out on how You should do some simple fact checking. The links point to many different pdf docs. The 2006 tech manual IS there but not the 2010 (this is the 2010 forum). The file Tech2010.rar (linked to from multiple spots on that page) is the owners manual not the tech manual.

    This link still works:
Toyota Prius 2010 Service Repair Manual - Download Technical
It's $12.99 on your credit card and it is a LARGE download so if you don't have much hard drive space - shy away. It's almost 7000 pages in final pdf format. It has every system covered plus bookmarks. You also get a separate pdf with all the wiring diagrams and images of all the plugs and sockets.

You need to be able to unzip the download. Then do a "save as" to your preferred location.

I received my CD from firstratedata today.

2010/2011 Toyota Prius Hybrid Workshop Service Manual - eBay (item 280614820339 end time Jan-17-11 12:09:02 PST)

$34.95 plus shipping, a little more than the others but this appears to be a genuine copyrighted legal version. The lable on the CD indicates a 2010 Toyota Motor Corporation copyright with the registered trademark etc.

I looked through it a little and it appears to be complete with Maintenance Manual, Electrical Wiring Diagrams, and Owner's Manual. It is in pdf format and index/toc in the navigation panel works fine.

It will autorun in Windows and everything works great but I haven't discovered how to make it run properly in Linux yet. Nautilus asks if I want to open from the autorun prompt but then it says there is an error. This may be a Windows only CD but I'll see if I can figure it out, suggestions would be appreciated.

If you prefer a legal copy for a little more I think this one is OK.

Tom, I have the same one. I think the copyright notice is there because they copied the Toyota label.:D

Did you find the index they advertised or just the table of contents that shows up on the left of the screen?

    It's a very useful CD.

When you autorun the cd the page it opens up to has a Prius picture, Toyota logo, and the same copyright info that's on the cd label so I thought maybe it was an authorized copy.

No, unfortunately no real alphabetical index, except for the Owner's Manual.

The mechanics of acquiring the pdf aside, I just like to reiterate:

Toyota doesn't make very good shop manuals. Say for example you need to change a low beam bulb. The section on headlamps shows some sketchy diagrams of the front bumper and fasteners, assorted trim pieces and their fasteners. Uh, I should remove these?

The specific descriptions of the headlamp does not even use the words low beam bulb or high beam bulb. There's terms like bulb #1, bulb #2 and something like "sidemarker bulb". No step-by-step walk-through.

The brake section is more-or-less the same. An inexeroable disassembly of the caliper and pads, right down to the last o-ring. 90% of this is not needed for a typical brake inspection. How about outlining what is?

The thought that keeps coming to mind is: "Toyota mechanics must be a resourceful bunch...".

The factory shop manuals are made to be used by professional mechanics. Haynes, Chiltons, and Bentley make manuals written for home mechanics.

A combination of a bootleg factory CD and a Haynes level manual is be a good combination for a home mechanic. The bootleg factory CD's are so cheap there is no reason to not get one.

Sometimes the factory CDs go into much more detail than the home mechanic manuals. I recently changed my upholstery to leather and the bootleg factory CD was very useful in taking the upholstery off the seats and putting new upholstery back on. A Haynes or Chiltons wouldn't touch that topic.

Whoah up: I've been buying Honda Shop Manuals for decades. The Honda manual, not aftermarket. There are verbose, step-by-step instructions. Most chapters are prefaced with an introductory overview to the system, and Each chapter has full index.

You would not believe the difference. Anybody, at any level of competence, appreciates complete and concise. The Toyota Repair Manual is cheap and terse, poorly presented.

Addendum: To be fair, just reading through the suspension section: here there are fairly good descriptions and explanations. Still spotty, but not bad. It seems to vary, section by section.

Can anyone who bought from "tradebit" site confirm if the doc contains torque spec. for front suspension (esp. the sway bar & lower A arm)? I'm planning to get the Hotchkis F/R sway bar for xB and would like to know before getting them. Thanks.

This information about the digital download is very helpful, thank you. So worth the money and now I can troubleshoot my problem without paying tons of money to the dealer.
