HIDEXTRA Owners - Not turning on automatically???

    Here is a pic of the fuse box in the engine compartment with the cover removed:

    You can use one of three sources to connect your red power wire from your relay harness.

    1) In the pic, I have removed a small cover, see where the screwdriver is located? The bolt under that cover is like the positive terminal from your battery in the back of the car. In the directions they mention the red wire has a ring terminal. If it does, then this is the bolt you would put that ring terminal under. Disconnect the battery cable in the back of the car if you are going to work on this bolt.

    2 & 3) If you don't mind getting a different type of terminal and crimping it on the end of the red power wire, then you can use either of the open spots in the fuse box for power. They are where the two red wires are going to in my pic on the right side of the box (backside of fuse box).

    The black, grounding wire can be attached to any good ground (bolt) in the engine bay.

    The instructions in your link are pretty much straight-forward. Once you have identified where you are going to make your power connection, do it last. Yes, the relay harness has it's own inline fuse, so you don't need another one, just connect it to a power source.

    1. Yes it is safe.

    2. Yes. Yes. And Yes.

    3. It might be all you need, a more direct power source able to provide more current at start up than the lowbeam headlight relay can. OEM wiring is used/plugged in on the driver's side for the control signal to the HID relay. The passenger side OEM H11 connector is unused, wrap it in a small baggie and tape it to protect contacts from water.

    This is the type of terminal that you would use if you want to connect to either of the two open locations in your fuse box. In my opinion, it is much easier to use those locations rather than having to disconnect the battery terminal in the back of the car and then get the small access cover off, in the fuse box, to get at the bolt.

    Good gosh... You really know your stuff... I was going to get audio shop to do the relay when they did my fog lights but I think you broke it down in layman terms for me...

    I think I'll use the 1st power source you mentioned since it won't involve any chrimping things.

    I think I'm going to take a stab at this when it comes in and see if I can tackle it...

    Appreciate your help and will likely have questions when this darn relay comes in.

    If you're already going to pay for installation of foglights, you can ask them to wire the HID harness too.

    One of the red wires going to the open terminals in my fuse box is power for my OEM foglights. The other red wire is power for my highbeam DRLs.

    Using the open terminals are much easier than opening the small cover in the fuse box and taking out that bolt. Don't forget, you will have to disconnect the battery to work on that bolt. That means you're going to have to reset everything like clock, radio presets, etc.

    I didn't disconnect the battery to make my power connections on the auxiliary terminals.

    How did you get that black plastic cover off to the positive terminal?
