what the most aerodynamic rooftop?

    It ultimately depends on how much cargo space you need.
    Yakima, Inno and Thule all make low profile boxes.

    If you want the ultimate aero cargo box (for what I'd imagine is the ultimate price), you could always get the Thule box from the Koenigsegg Agera R.

    perhaps try a container mounted on a hitch receiver?

    I've been carrying my bike around on the hitch and it reduced mpg minimally if at all. Though I know weight would be different compared to a bike(15lbs), it should be similar drag wise.

    This doesn't look like a Prius.. lol.. Even this box will increase drag.. it's inevitable with any roof top box.
