I was able to go in between the headliner and the plastic trim piece on the a pillar just by wedging in the cable.

Do you have an airbag there?
Did you thread the cable on top of (garnish side of) the air bag, or below (car frame side or behind) the air bag?

also, airbag is not in the A pillar. Its in the headliner above the door. If your worried about pulling the A pillar off it shouldnt be a factor. Disconnect 12v battery just to be safe or to give you a piece of mind

When I pull the weather stripping back it, I can see what appears to be an airbag (in the Prius v) that goes up the A -Pillar. Even on the outside of the A-Pillar garnish, it says something like "airbag" on it. I was at the dealer getting my car serviced and the service guy pulled back the garnish for me so from the fuse box beneath the dash, I ran the cable up the weather stripping part and I tucked the cable behind* the airbag and out into the headliner so all was good. (*By behind the airbag, I mean between the airbag and the metal car frame so the airbag would not be restricted or covered from exploding out if ever needed as opposed to running the cable on top of the airbag (which I did not d0) which would have hindered the airbag from being able to explode out into the car.)

Then came the grounding which has been a hassle. I tried a lot of bolts under the dash and it seemed many of them were not a good ground or seemed to be a partial ground. I finally got the advice from someone in another thread here about which grounds to use under the dash and it was one of the steel bolts near the fuse box. All is good. Now I can coast down the hills before the uphills and can drive 43mph EV in a 30mph zone and not worry as much. (But I have to say that radar detectors aren't really great at preventing tickets anymore anyway. )
    Thanks for everyone's help.

I should add the cable I used, has a 1Amp fuse in it and I inserted the live wire of the cable into the fuse box with the CIG fuse (switched cigarette lighter). I just stripped a little of the end of the wire and inserted it along with the fuse (inserted in with the outside prong of the fuse).

If anyone has any feedback of any concerns about how I did this, please don't hesitate to let me know.
    Thanks,

    Aloha,
Try checking your local auto parts store for fuse taps.
We've also noticed the Prius does pick up speed going down hill. since it's a smooth ride, next thing I know, I'm doing close to 70mph in a 50mph zone  !
Personally, I would get an Escort Passport detector. May have to get one.....soon!

Even funnier than Radar detectors in a Prius - using one here in Socal where LiDar is almost universal. When the detector detects the laser signal, it beeps to let you know to pull over for your ticket (LiDar works at the speed of light, there is no bleed, and the only way to avoid it is to install and align an expensive blocking device on your front grill). When you see it, it sees you and it's too late to slow down!

If your using a v1, a higher end escort, or the k40, you will detect the laser signal before the cops will get any kind of feedback. Granted this will only work if your going maybe 15 mph over the speed limit. Thats enough for you to slow down to the speed limit before the cop gets a read on your speed. If your 30 over your out of luck. You wont have time to slow down.
