New Prius Plug-in ('13 base)

welcome to the club! congrats on your new pip, i saw a pip out on the street today plugged into a long extension cord. any port in a storm, all the best!

 

They'll be convinced no matter what. Concern yourself with what you were meant to drive, not with what others think about it.
Who knows, you might find yourself moving to wherever in a few years (maybe in town) and maybe you'll be able to plug it in there. You just never know.

 

Blink, Chargepoint or other network Can provide charging

 

I hope to eventually get a plug in electric and gas hybrid car, like this or the volt. the thing is, i don't think it makes sense for me at this point. there are no chargers at work. my commute is about 16 miles each way, plus, I need to get my daughters in two different places. It just would not provide enough electric, battery power for that. I am hoping the range continues to grow on these cars. The more companies put these style plug in cars out there, the more competitive it will become and the more likely there will be better products, i.e. more range! oh, and hopefully less expensive.

 

I think one thing this forum has demonstrated is there is no such thing as a stereotypical Prius owner. We represent a very broad spectrum of political, religious, economic, employment, ideological, and lifestyle beliefs and practices.

The more stereotypical one in the equation is the one who is bigoted against the Prius and it's drivers because of its one obvious unforgivable fault, it conserves energy, strangely enough, the very same quality most of us buy it for. Since their bias is irrational I try to educate as gently as I can when I can but largely ignore them.

 

great points, SteveLee... I am not the "sterotypical" prius owner. I am 34 years old, two little kids. 5'11, 300 lbs (ok, i need to lose some of it...LOL) but most people my size drive these incredible suv's and trucks. My wife also has a prius now as well. It just cannot be compared with any other car on the market right now. For the price, of the model two Prius, there is no competitor.

I love the car too, just wish it had a bit more room up front and in back seat. My kids have limited room behind my (driver) seat.

Welcome to the Forum and congrats..

 

Your mileage can really go up with the plug in charge. It allows you to store more regenerated energy. My base plug in is a week old tomorrow. My 135 mile round trip commute piles on the miles. I got 69 mph coming home tonight. Love it. Good luck!

Yeah that looks terrifyingly close. I saw you were leasing rather than financing. So I take it you've got some options when your lease is finished.
