Is there a list somewhere of EVSEs that are compatible for other makes (Leaf, Volt, Ford, etc) for the bargain shoppers lookin for another EVSE?

    LG-MS870 ? 4

Most likely Either picking up a Leviton or that Clipper Creek one but if a used OEM one shows up for the right price.. It'd be good to have the info out there

I think it was Jeff N and devprius, but they tested a bunch of EVSEs (Leaf, Volt, PiP) and if I recall, the 2011 and earlier Volt EVSEs dont work with the PiP. The 2012 Volt EVSE does and I think its pretty cheap, like $300 or something like that.

Yeah, Jeff N.. here's his matrix of what was tested and what worked/didnt work

EDIT: The stock Chevy EVSE is $369, it looks like

EDIT: Sorry, I guess I was wrong.. looks like the 2011-2012 Chevy EVSE didnt work for the PiP at all

The Volt ESEVs are junk. I wouldn't buy one even if the 2013 model works. The 2011-2012 units were really bad. I had my PIP ESEV upgraded to 220v for use on my Volt because I didn't trust my OEM unit. lol

They mainly stop working and show a fault light. Some have burnt cords or connector prongs. GM apparently switch manufacturers for the 2013 units. If the new ones are indeed made by Clipper Creek then they should be good quality.

Here is how you can I'd the different model years.

The Clipper Creek unit listed above is very well regarded.

How much AMP can the PIP draw?

Another alternative may be Bosch's Power Max $449 with 16A/12 feet cord.

From the wall? Or during acceleration?

First of all, are you talking about a Level 1 (120V) or Level 2 (240V) EVSE?

An L1 EVSE draws about 12A from the wall. The L2 EVSE will draw about 10A since the car can only pull a maximum of about 2.2 to 2.3 kW.

I have a Nissan-branded Aerovironment EVSE-RS that works just fine with the PiP (or the RAV4-EV). While it can deliver up to 7.2kW (30A), the PiP still only pulls about 10A.
