NYS Thruway EZ Pass has a Green Pass

I sent in the form and all the required documentation about 3 weeks ago.... Waiting for them to send me the Pass. Ken, how long was the turn around time for yours?

I finally called the number and asked to speak with Eileen as was suggested earlier in the thread. She checked on it while I was on the phone with her, and the office that handles them either never got, lost, or misplaced my letter with all the needed info to get my Green pass. I gave her my email, she emailed me, and I sent her the letter and the copy of my registration back in an email.

She promised me she would check to make sure it didn't get misplaced this time!

Tag arrived yesterday (one week after I called) and has been installed in the PIP. Will be using it for the first time tomorrow...

Not sure what's going on in the Thruway E-ZPass office - as I mentioned above, they couldn't find the plate number on a photocopy of my registration...

But at least they're very nice on the phone.

 

been using mine for a month now.
no monthly fee has been charged according to the e-statement they send via email.

 

It has been a month since I went to the Queens E-ZPass service center to open a Thruway account and requested a green tag. They told me it would be 1-2 weeks! I was almost going to call them today until I found it in the mail today! I live in Long Island, this time they don't need to use a fake ZIP code to get me a Thruway account.

It shows Mark IV at the back and is significantly bigger than the normal E-ZPass my friend got.

 

Is there anyone getting the "GREEN" plan listed in your account in the E-ZPass website? I only see "STANDARD" there.

 

It is listed on the monthly statement as NYGREEN and includes the discounted price. At the website it doesn't, IIRC, show a listing for the Green Pass at yopur account. It will just show STANDARD, but it will show up on the statement.

I applied about a year ago when I had my 2010 Prius, had to send a copy of my Reg. never heard back from them since. I guess I'll have to renew my attempt.

 

it's a good discount program, might as well jump in.

 

The main reason I wanted the Thruway Green pass is that it also works for Port Authority and you don't have to pay the dollar a month fee that the PA charges.

Peak hours on the PA crossings (GW Bridge, Lincoln & Holland Tunnels, Staten Island bridges) are weekdays: 6-10 a.m. and 4-8 p.m.; Sat. & Sun.: 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

The Port Authority round-trip cash toll is $13 all the time. EZPass is $10.25 peak, $8.25 off-peak. Green pass is $4.75 off-peak, and that's almost always when I hit the toll booth.

 

I requested to be added to PAGREEN in the E-Z Pass website a week ago. I called the customer service, the lady asked me to fax in the registration. Did you need to fax anything? Did it take a long time to add it in your case?

 

I told the lady I don't have fax and was able to send here a copy via email instaed. IIRC it took about 2 weeks after I did that to receive the Green EZ Pass.

 

I had emailed a scan of the registration to the Thruway and I was able to add PAGREEN without sending it to the Port Authority.

 

This is great! I just moved to NYS and didn't know this was an option on the EZPass. Once I change my registration to NY State I'll definitely pursue!

 

I was lazy and didn't email or fax anything. I sent the request in the E-ZPass website on 09/03/2013 and finally both plans were added!

 

I live in NJ but have my EZ Pass account through the NY service center. I was allowed to get the Green EZ Pass. I think it is the specific Clean Pass program, with HOV access etc. that requires a NY registration. I faxed them the request with my NJ registration and got the tag about a week later. It said "NY Thruway Authority" on it, and I was only showing "NYGREEN" plan online, which is the Thruway. I just called customer service and they added "PAGREEN". I haven't used it for a discounted toll yet.
