I heard from a guy who owns a shop that is contracted by Toyota that the install is, in fact, possible. It is very easy. He said there is a wire that is missing that goes from the back of the steering wheel to the ECU itself? You have to add this wire for the computer to notice it. He said PC1 cruise has been done in his shop quite a few times already. I need a wire diagram or factory service manual. Does anyone have one? I can figure this out!

I had cruise added by American Radio in Atlanta. It cost $400 total l&m but well worth it imo. It uses the same control lever and all the lights and features work as expected.

well a little over 7 months later.

I now have CC working lol

I paid $65 for a toyota CC switch as noted in the OP

and then grabbed some ECM terminals off a wrecked scion, soldered up the new wires, and the install was easy.

followed the direction in the first link provided for the rostra kit.

all it is is adding two wires.

one to ground from pin 2 of G5
and the other from G5 pin 1 to ECM G58 pinn 22

then added the stock toyota CC switch. done. less dremeling the hole in the CC cover

I am currently trying to add cruise control to my 2013 Prius C One and I have the switch but no wiring terminals. Do you have any suggestions as to obtain the wiring terminals that fit into these two connectors? I called the junk yards near me and they seem to not have many newer vehicles... If I have to get the terminals from a junk yard, does anyone know which models/years have compatible wiring terminals that I can take out? On that note, how do I remove the wires from the plastic connector housing? Special tool/safety pin? I am clueless here.... Thanks for any help.

I busted out some pliers and shredded a totaled XB and found similar sized pins based on hole size to the matching pins.

I had to hand file them a bit to get them to fit in the prius plastic terminal connectors.

If I had to do it again, id get the Rosta wiring kit, it will make the whole job night and day easier.

I was really hoping you wouldn't say that lol. The kit is so expensive even when you consider the switch, I paid $80 for a cruise switch from a wrecked '12 Prius C (eBay) and couldn't justify the extra $70 for some wires they decided to call a fancy name (Harness). There has to be some terminals I can buy from Mouser that I can file down or get to fit somehow... I just have no clue which ones to get.

I am with you on that. Took me 2 hours, or less, to replace my old cruise on the motor home with the Rostra. Super good instructions.

I got it all working, found out that you can use the wire terminals off of a PC front panel header or usb headers... any motherboard headers that plug into the motherboard pins. Only thing is it doesn't lock inside the G58 connector and also has to be inserted sideways. The G5 connector handles the pins fine in the normal direction and holds them in. I just used a zip tie to keep the wire in place on the G58 connector. Saved a ton of $.

Well you must have got something wrong. Possibly not grounded correctly.

Which switch did you use, and did you get those wire's connected properly?

Thanks for replying, I used the rostra kit, I check all the wires again and it's all set but I still got the message. The cruise icon show in the panel but in 3 seconds it goes off and show again the error message.
