Side impact totals are rare. All of the value is in the front as far as the body goes, and it is mostly the same through MY 2009. A person working on a front-end rebuild of a late model could use all of the body parts, especially if there is a color match, and the front airbags. The battery and mechanicals are not very desirable at 300K miles -- most would be suspicious of a weak pack, oil burning motor, etc. This is also why there may not be much interest in rebuilding, a 10 year old car with a lot of miles and salvage title is not a hot ticket, even if it is a Prius. It is probably worth at most $2000 in a local sale. If that is about what you would like to see out of it, put it up on Craigslist for that price and see what happens.

The other option is copart.com. My guess is that they would offer $1000 or so, but it doesn't hurt to try: Copart How to Sell - Learn how you can use Copart to sell your car

Ah, sorry to hear that. I was hoping you'd got at least a few years benefit from the reduced insurance cost.

Seilert's fine post set me to wondering if repair of the car might be a good way to go since the used body ware might be cheap. If the car still runs well, a call to the fine folks in IN may be helpful.

    Welcome back Seilert :)

Estimate from a reputable repair shop - $6,682.27. The estimator made the point that there would be additional items as the car was pulled apart. He knew we were well beyond the value of the vehicle.

    Partial parts list:
Lt quarter panel. 637.48 and 4 associated items 251.50
Rear bumper cover. 240.29 and Lt retainer. 47.21
    Lt door asmbly. 562.50
    Lkq axel beam. 650.00
Total labor. 3,050.00 (about 84 hrs)

Usually when someone runs a light and hits you their insurance company pays. Did you file a claim with them? Was there a police report, most states require one with that amount of damage. Many times I have made claims directly with the other parties insurance company and gotten paid by them. Since the vehicle would be totaled, they would take it to sell for parts.
