Recently I have had a problem with the key fob unlocking the front passenger door. I was able to hit unlock once and the driver door would unlock and then if i hit the unlock again the front passenger door would unlock. Now if I hit the unlock button a second time, the car beeps about six times and the passenger door is still locked. My wife noticed the other day when I unlocked the hatch the passenger door did unlock. I have tried to change the fob from opening just the driver door to all doors but that didn't help. Is there something else I should try or is it a lock actuator problem?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ken

Have you replaced the battery in the key fob?

I just received the low key fob battery message today for my 2010. :)

Well, there's a detail that was left out of the original post.

Try taking the fob apart, then reassemble it taking care to get everything, especially the buttons, lined up with the holes in the case when reassembling.

When you hit the unlock button the second time, do the 2 rear doors still unlock? If so, the problem is probably not your remote. I would bet that it's the lock assembly on the passenger door. I had the lock assembly fail on the driver side. At first, I thought it was a problem with the remote or the locking system. From what I've been reading, this is common with the Prius and FJ Cruiser.

If I were you, I would not waste my time checking the fob or battery. There is only 1 door control receiver and if the driver door can be locked/unlocked, that means the communication between the fob and the door control receiver is successful. If battery is weak or the button malfunction, all doors can't be locked/unlocked, not just passenger door.

If it is only the passenger door, there could be problem in the Main body ECU, wire harness/connector or the door lock assembly. There are 3 more ways you can try to lock/unlock:
    1. Using the Door lock switch (near the Power window switches on the Driver's door).
    2. Mechanical key.
    3. Touch sensors on the Door handle.

If all these do not work, the door lock assembly should be checked. If at least 1 works, check the wire harness/connector and the Main body ECU.
